Anyone ridden a 2009 era ZX10R?? I'm thinking about bu........ermmm I mean I've got a mate who's thinking about buying one
yes, marmite bike.some hate the handing some love it. I find a few friends that do road racing love the way its set up as standard. the one I road had about 2k of suspension changes so I couldnt say what the stock one is like to ride......but even with just an aftermarket can its s*&t quick.
Just bought a 2010 one for Track Day's, they are about 6 BHP up on the Blade The Guy I bought it off used to race R1's and he said the Kwak laps Oulton Park within 4/10ths of his tricked 190bhp R1 with full Ohlins suspension. That's good enough for me Pig! Not ridden the fecker yet as I'm having it serviced and 'looked over' first before it's first outing at Darley Moor in a few weeks time.
There's been a recall on the ZX10R due to machining error on the seating for the starter motor - oil can leak out and pool on top of the crank case and potentially contaminate the rear wheel, a lethal scenario for me and I wouldn't want to ride or even own the bike! Kawasaki dealers fix the problem by applying resin putty and imprinting the starter motor into it to create a new seating surface - instead of replacing the crank case for a correctly machined one! Those who know got rid of their bikes - hence the keen prices on the second hand market. A lot about this bodge fix can be found using Google but don't ask Kawa dealers, they seem to be rather quiet about it Gen 4: 2011- 2011-2012 ZX-10R Recall - Kawasaki ZX-10R.net
I had a C2H 2005 model. Did 40,000 miles on it. It never missed a beat. They sound so much nicer than the Fireblades. My touring buddy has a 2008 one in orange....he had a C2H before as well.....hes spent a couple of grand on the suspension on the 08. The pegs are a bit lower on the ZX-10R than the blade and the stock suspension is much harder and more juddery......that does get softer with age though. I think he only loves it because it's orange.
not all bikes it would seem if you read the varioua threads. best thing to do is ring a dealer, give then your vin number and see what it says. nowt like scaremongering is there......
M and S There's a black one in M and S on westgate road it's stunning if I had any £££££'s I would seriously think about it
