So my blade has a 190/55/17 on the rear and its in need of replacement! I am told it should have a 190/50/17 on it?!

Do you guys think the previous owner may have changed to a 190/55/17 for slightly more curvature leading to a better cornering feel?

    Stock or 190/55/17??

Any advice would be great! Getting new tire done Sat!

Ditto, I run 55 profile rear. Much better and easier to tip into a corner.

Also running a 55 rear. I prefer it. 50's standard but I doubt I'll go back.

I'm running 50s and like them, if you have been happy with 55s my advice is stick with it. Most tyres today are hard to outride, giving yourself time to learn your tyres is often more productive than anything else. And confidence is a major factor. If you are happy with what you have you are a lucky man, beware of the green fields are next door argument ...Also remember, New just about anything are usually better than old just about anything. Good luck Mike.

I have switched from 190/55 Bridgestone R10 to 190/50 Michelin Road pilot 2 and frankly speaking I cannot tell the difference on the road! (Might be just me though.)

Anyway I would think twice about using a 55 on the road as the insurer may reject a claim due to a non-approved tyre!

Well in that case the Michelin Road Pilot 2 tire isn't an approved tire so would you not have the same issue regardless of size?

    190/50ZR17M/C (73W)
    BRIDGESTONE
    BT015F RADIAL F
    BRIDGESTONE
    BT015R RADIAL F
    DUNLOP
    Qualifier PTK
    DUNLOP
    Qualifier NK

    - From the owner manual?

Not sure if I should go for one of these now instead of a Bridgestone S20? Don't want to void my insurance!!

My gut feeling is that as long as the size matches the approved / recommended size and as long as the tyre is one of the major brands (which Michelin certainly is) then the insurer wouldn't push it. But I'm just guessing here...

I've just had a Bridgestone S20 fitted to the rear and I'm already a lot more confident than I was with the original Bridgestone BT15's, It's a way better tyre, much softer and loving it so far.

My front doesn't really need to be replaced yet, but I've decided to get the front fitted next week so I have the same all round.

All I can compare it against is the original BT15's that the bike came with new, and BT23's which I had fitted to my ZX6, and these S20's are a much softer tyre, but don't know what they'll be like mileage wise (But I'm more interested in grip and predictability than how long they last).

I got 1100 miles out of a rear S20.... All my mates tell me to get the Dunlop GP 211 racer tires but I'm gonna stick with what I like for now!

Just out of interest... What size did you go for? Stock or 55?
