Ok after a long time looking and seeing what is best for my requirements i'm going to get a Panasonic TX-L47FT60 47" 3D smart TV in the next week from Costco. best price, warranty etc...

I'm happy with the TV so not asking for any other suggestions on TV's

But I want to get a 3D blu ray player.

Do I got for a Panasonic Blu ray player? which may hook up to the TV better than a non Panasonic Blu ray?

Or having Say a Samsung Blu ray player with say a few On demand channels I may not get with the Panasonic a good idea?

Everything will be running through my Onkyo AV surround surround, Xbox, PS3 Sky + HD etc...

Also I have 4 Ethernet ports on my router, and need more. Any suggestions on a splitter or something. I bet I end up at maplins with this one

If you have a PS3 why not use that as your 3D blue ray player? All you need to do is update the firmware I believe

From my understanding a Modern Blu ray player with 3D capabilities is going to be much better quality wise than a 5 year old Console.

A Panasonic player will not only be better at 3D if that's what you want it for, but will also allow the TV to use Viera Link where it can be used to control the player.

Also don't forget to claim the free iPod that was on offer with your TV, then you can use the Viera Remote App to enable Voice Interaction ;)

Thanks for that, I have the app already on my iPhone as I was looking what I can do. Costco do not show that you get a free iPod but I know u can still clam it. But thinking as the tv does not have some of the on demand tv that buying a blue ray with t would be a benefit? Or no so?

As Trev says, Sky HD is handy for On Demand, although your TV already has an iPlayer App. You may also be able to access ITVplayer.com on the web browser, you could connect a satellite feed to your Tv and get ITV player as a channel through Freesat.

OK chap keep it simple for me. One this I did not add was that I have no outside Arial. I'm happy just to have the SKY +HD for live stuff and was just thinking of adding a different Blu ray to get these on demand TV stations.

Ok, in the Freesat TV Guide you'll have an On Demand genre, this will give you access to BBC iPlayer and ITV Player, so all your missing so far is C4 & C5 On Demand. Only problem is that I don't know of any BluRay players that support those, but if you were thinking of adding Sky HD anyway then this comes with all of the On Demand services built into the box, it will just need connecting to your network for the On Demand stuff.

I think you need to log in to mysky.com and add or activate on demand to your package, it's free to do.

Remal, just check something for me, on the Sky box if you go in to the TV Guide does it not come up with a red button at the bottom of the screen named On Demand?

That's just a router to plug in the back of the sky box, you've already done that with your own router haven't you?
