I tend to do lots of miles on my bikes, on all my previous bikes in recent years I've mounted a Garmin, whilst I await the delivery of my new steed, I've been pondering mounting sites. Has anyone fitted a Garmin, can't be the first. Cheers
I've got a garmin zumo 550 which I mount using a techmount headstock stem mount with an extension bar to raise it up a bit otherwise its a little to low when trying to get a good look at it, I power it using a cigarette lighter adaptor I connect to my optimate charge lead and have a modified garmin lead. I've a zumo 660 on mine, mounted with a telferizer on the hesd unit. Fitting details here; http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/2209-218.htm#post173455
This is how I mount my Garmin Zumo 550 I can power it two ways either semi hard wired or using an Optimate power lead This is the semi hard wired option Both power leads
Cheers lads, thanks for taking the time to post, really handy. Your right Sinewave yours is more elegant, but I'm way too tight to buy a new GPS to replace my trusty old Garmin 550. I was planning on going for my usual power setup and pinch a feed of the back lights. should be ok, only ever had dramas with BMW and their CANBUS systems.
Mine was low down like yours sinewave but found I was having to look down to far which made me nervous when taking my eyes off the road! And it also fits with a full tank bag.
Previously I've always mounted mine on the left hand grip. might try that area again but central could be good too.
Yes, I did need to make a few adjustments with a full Tank bag and despite how this side on Pic looks, I can see the full screen area when in a standard riding position with no craning of the neck required. More importantly I can also see the full dash including warning lights!
Some interesting Mods Sinwave, obviously using your Blade for more than just a Sunday Blat! The luggage bars look handy, who supplies those, Vario? , and the tank bag too? Cheers
Likewise that why I positioned mine where it is so you can see all the warning lights and not have to take you eyes off the road to much!
Luggage Rack is by Renntec Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Motorbike Accessories From Renntec Tank Bag is by Givi which used the tank lock system which clipe on and off in 5 seconds flat and doesn't touch any paint work.
