    Howdie folks..

Just wondering how many members have put engine mods onto their blades?
Im in no rush to go tuning but just wondering what people have done and what sort of power it has brought them?

I currently have about 170bhp as a base..

What do you have, did you get any/many gains from it? What sorta money? What does it do for engine longevity between refreshes?

    :D

    What year?

RR8 good spec will make 205-215BHP(ish), refresh is hard to say and depends on spec, use etc but for example a med(endurance) spec'd motor could need a refresh each 1,500 miles at cost of around £4-5,000.00 Check out TenKate Honda as they are prob top of the line, think they spec bikes right up too WSB where they run agressive cam lift and comp ratio's etc to get the power, its all about money!! A gear box can such up 10,000 and total WSB could be 150,000.00+ I'd talk to them as I know they offer good "real world" advice.

Other wise (on planet earth), Full exhaust, PCV+SFM, Ram air tubes, Stacks, Filter, etc etc.. don't forget its power to weight also so wheels, Ti, Mag and so on! All this can get 180 from a RR8+ but could clock off some Kgs making for a QUICK bike.

Arthur, do velocity stacks make much difference ? I have heard some people say they are not very effective. I expect it is a case of lots of little gains making up an overall bigger improvement.

In our case RR7 I had HRC stacks they cost £350.00 for four white golf ball textured intakes that give maybe 2-3bhp top end on a stock motor BUT they shave a little from the mid.. I sold mine and run stock stacks as tbh I did not notice any change, better off as you've done spend the money shaving weight.. They say its a factor of 8. I.e for 1 X taken off you gain 8 X back.

Perosnally, I would sort out handling as a priority-uprate the forks, shock and carbon wheels. A mate of mine races a Blade and he is doing a gearbox refresh every 12 hours. This is what Padgetts who built the bike recommend as a matter of course.

I 100% agree but im very happy with how the bike is handling at the mo. TTX rear and Ktech 25mm in front and ofcourse, Honda chassis :) Brilliant handling machine
    Interesting thoughts on the gearbox!

I was surprised by the gearbox timescale myself. My race R6 needs a refresh every year, but that is with a standard motor. The more you do to the motor, the more expensive the refresh really.

How do you re-fresh a gearbox?

    gearbox refresh???

in an rr8- thats a full engine strip essentially, would make a lot more sense to go down the nova/hrc route surely?

I had a PC5, BMC air filter, full ten kate arrow system the pair air done and made 174.9 o the back wheel.. the guy who dyno'ed it in belgium use to race honda's and only works on honda's and says that without any engine work done this is the most he's ever got out of a blade....... looking to buy another one and possibly get some engine work done..... looking for 180+ and as light as possible... lovely bikes these blades are ;)

I have the Ten Kate velocity stacks, Emissions block offs and the HRP Air ducts with PCV and SFM. I have not dyno'd with Stacks yet but even with the Taylormade gave me 174 bhp. Not bad for a stock engine and exhaust that offers no bhp gains.
