Yeah that kind of thing does deserve a deletion for sure. Same as the witty, funny or emotional ecards that people post up to hint at their deeply troubled life or ever so funny self perceived sense of humor that they feel the need to share with everyone.

No way for me, caused more grief than its worth.

If I was single, completely different story- I'd certainly reopen the "muffbook" account.

I've got nothing to hide from the wife, just want to be in control of what and when she gets site of things. Same as work colleagues, was struggling keeping my private life private.

Yeah I think you and Jimbo have some skeletons in the closet about your previous 'single' life mate..... Probably toured as a cheap alternative to the Chippendales or something similarly grimey :p

FB is for people to nose into your shit, I use it a lot, not to nose at stuff but more to shock people, but I have set security up to only make certain stuff visible to the forementioned masses, but apart from getting game invites off of the same small number of peeps I have no problems.
I post what I want, & don't care about race religion or creed, if anyone is offended by what I post, I tell them to do 1 but most of the peeps I know on FB quite well so they are rarely shocked on what I post & do anymore but saying that a few of my closer friends have been warned & or reported for what must be dire crimes against humanity

I am one of those who grew up before the advent of the home computer, and there is still much that goes straight over the top of my head, Facebook being one of them.

Don't have and have no desire to have a FB account after seeing the grief my wife and daughter sometimes have with their accounts.

Like someone said, how can someone have 500+ friends but only meet maybe 3 or 4?

That said, I do have a Twitter account which I find quite useful, and I also have a Linkedin account, but that is purely for work purposes.

So, the forums are probably the closest I get to any form of social networking :(

I don't have and never have had Facebook or Twitter.
I never would have Facebook either.
However I did consider getting Twitter, not to 'tweet' personally, but to get info on my main interests like bands touring and so on.

My wife has facebook, is always on it.
First thing she does when she gets up is check it.
Folk post the most bizarre stuff on it, and why others post so much about themselves and what they are doing or have done is beyond me (I know because she tells me).
The 'friends' thing is more crazy. Adding folk you hardly know, or even worse, work colleagues.
Why ? It's like an "ooh look at me" form of networking. Don't know how folk can be arsed.
Have also seen some grief caused on it through family etc too.

I had a LinkedIn account before, but scrapped that as it is mainly recruitment agencies that contact you.
I also had a My Space account back in the day, however I only used it for music purposes, and only had two actual people on it out of the 150 odd friends.
One was my niece, and the other was someone who tattooed my arm.

Edited to add: I did read yesterday that some folk have been 'friend requesting' complete strangers in order to get lives sent to them for Candy Crush.
Just when I thought Facebooking couldn't get any sadder.

I hate the feckin thing!! BUT
I had a few close friends move to opposite ends of the country (Taunton & Clacton) and it is a great way to keep in touch send each over piccies etc.
So I got round all the nosey bastards and people who wouldn't say hi at school suddenly wanting to be "facebook friends' by naming myself Fac ebookphantom.
If they are your real friends ring them and tell them your name and Ta Daaah!

(if you want to be rally paranoid, sign up with a temp email address then delete the email address)

I have two profiles, one for random cr*p for all to see and to arrange ride outs
out friends then my personal profile that obly has people I consider friends.
I do friend culls if I manage to collect too many, never any issues with it.

I use it , if I have no other choice. I rather write emails and I dont see a reason why everybody
has to know everything and anything about my life and I dont want to offer all my private information freely.

There are a lot of reasons why you should not use FB as your personnel diary.

By the way, I worked for the government.

My mother in law sent me a friend request. After casually ignoring it for a while she finally put pressure on me to confirm it. I explained to her that the reason I was reticent was that I didn't want her to be embarrassed by anything she saw there that I'd posted, as I did, and still do, use it as an organ to vent my true insights and feelings.

She graciously thanked me for being so considerate and explained that after 35 years, she doubted she would think less of me for seeing me speak my mind, so I relented and admitted her to my inner circle.

I wonder how long it was before she realised that most of my incandescent fulminating was aimed at her, the old cow...

Maybe that'll teach her to keep her nose out of my frigging business!

It's a deliberately ambiguous statement. Remember, I'm the one that gets in the way of her 'guilting' her daughter into rushing to her every beck and call, including the serial feck ups of her brother and sisters evil hordes.

    You know...

    ...the voice of reason..

I have the same problem with relatives so when you add them set them as acquaintances,
then you can use the drop down post menu to block them from seeing rants.

Personally I don't use Facebook at all.
Came off it as didn't really want to see what my kids are doing.
People I know who are on it do seem to complain rather a lot about what other people post.
Seems that people like to live in a bowl these days.
My social media of choice is Twitter.
Firstly to follow Alex Briggs (Rossi's Mechanic) for some insider info.
The Suzi Perry just because I think she is fit.
Now I use Twitter to get all sorts of info and can also have a rant every once in a while
    Anyone wants to follow: J7TYS
