Well for the past year my Daughter has said she wants a dog. Well for much longer but all I hear is Dad, can we have a dog She looks after my mums lab and the in laws dog, But that's not enough for her. I get "dad for the next few years a new dog would be my birthday and Christmas present". my eldest who's keeping on is 11 and my youngest is 8. How Jess (Eldest)has got her mum on side who also wants a dog. I don't dislike animals but having not had to walk them, kennels when on holiday etc,,, I was not really keen on having one. I told the wife a daughters if they want a dog we MAY look into it. But i'm not picking up poo or walking the dog, thats the wife and kids job. Did the "a dog is not just for Christmas" and she, I know for sure will walk and feed, etc.. a dog not just for the next 6 months. Now here goes, if we get a dog, I want a small dog. Would love it not to shed. My mums Lab retriever sheds 12 months of the year. I was thinking Pug but hear they get issues with nose due to the breeding. happy to spend money on a dog they want as long as it's not ££££ Any suggestions? thoughts comments? What to do?
MK's right, cats are soooooooo much easier, just as cuddly cute and don't drool on you. But, small dog....Jack Russell's rule. Mad, bad and dangerous to know, as clever as a collie and not embarrassing for a bloke to get caught walking, because no matter what they all promise, you will be wandering around the park with a sandwich bag of shit within three months, tops.
We have a black Lab and I can honestly say its one of the best £300 purchases I have ever made, always loved dogs as a child but we were never in a position to own one. 7 years ago we bought Douglas from a respectable breeder and never looked back, They are fantastic natured dogs and great with kids. A friend of mine has recently purchased a labradoodle for the reason of a Labradors nature crossed with a poodle for the moulting.
I'm allergic to cats too, but I've had them all my life... ...might account for my generally foul disposition, now I come to say it out loud...
My pair of English springers molt all year round... every morning/evening I'm out picking up piles of doggy droppings - curly wurlies - scraping up sloppy stuff depending on what they've been fed or helped themselves to - bliss! But to be honest Its the best few hundred quid I've ever spent

border terrier, lovely dogs, great characters, small and fun with good personalities, look at his face..... how could you not like him!!!
Try a Petite Bassett Griffon Vendeen, PBGV for short, great dogs, don't molt but do need grooming. Do a search on google. They are not cheap though, best £500 quid ever spent. They won at Crufts this year. You need to check out insurance too. They can't really be let off lead though as they are a hound, they are also quite stubborn. Bags of character and funny too.
