Just bought a set of Hel lines for my ABS (Actually R and G but made by Hel).

Was just about to fit them but checked the banjos and they were full of machining burrs, see below. All 3 banjos had this

Sent off a complaint to R&G who in their defence were very helpful and responsive, they sent Hel a message to investigate to which they replied this was an isolated problem and they would send me some replacement banjos - happy days. Guess what, the replacements were even worse!!! even more more spare metal hanging off, the packet even had shards of metal in it!. The C-ABS can be fragile enough but to introduce shards of metal into the system is just asking for trouble.

My question is this normal and you should deburr banjos before fitting or is this just shoddy and I should take my complaint further.

Hell no dude...Do Not accept this. Sometimes these burrs are fairly solid and won't budge but you cannot be sure. If they cant replace with clean items ask for a full refund and go get something else.

Think all banjos I have ever seen need dressing its part of the machining process, yes yes I know they should be ok but sadly part of the job of the fitter IMO is to clean off any particles before fitting, even probolt etc are the same. Id just dress them off and fit them no problem. Think if each one was dressed off the price would be double for the bolts, not saying accept it just that it's the way they come from the machine shop.

Thanks for the comments. Never really been a complainer and TBH I just want to fit these pronto. I didn't pay premium money for the lines but just surprised they come like this with no warning they might need to dressed up a bit. Guess I will need to get the dremel out and start polishing.

Most just falls away with a flat blade driver, tbh they might have done it for you! Then sent them back out...derr....

Not defending it mate as I agree they should be cleaned or tool setup to dress them all but I guess that's mass production for you, agree fully they could put a note in to say about the swarf!

If it make you feel better even the probolt Ti banjos have a little on from time to time, pays to check..

Just give them a check before fitting. Theyre a fantastic kit and top quality which more than makes up for this imo ;-)

Had a quick look at my set in the Garage which are yet to be fitted, and all 5 banjo's had swarf in them!

Was easily sorted with a 2.5mm drill bit through the side to side hole and a 3mm drill bit down the end, all by hand of course.

As said though, if you didn't notice and this swarf got pumped in to the Calipers?
