As per thread the other week, been getting mighty p!ssed off with my arai pods popping all the time and just couldn't face touring and being away with them going, unless you take spares it's a right pain.... Will get my 1 year old viper fixed up and use it as my track lid but wanted something for road riding and touring... Was convinced I'd get a shark or hjc, couldn't get on with the sharks fit and the lining on the hjc just didn't feel as plush as my arai. Never got on with them before but after trying back to back the fit was as good as the arai (but not as familiar), won't know for sure until tried properly but fits real good.... Different view through visor, I'd say slightly narrower but a wider field of view, like the add on chin guard, and nose piece thingy which you can remove, but most importantly NO PODS! Visor change is easy (so was the arai tbh) and I love the design, which is unusual for me and shoei. So this is it, shoei x spirit 2 reverb... Nice bag mr!! Good extras which are removable.. Got a spare visor, pinlock and sexy fur lined case thrown in... Not best deal, but Lisa paid!! Lol
jimbo - sorry to hear youve had problem with your arai, tell you the truth mate, ive not had any problems with my arai TT helmets and love their fit but hey, good luck with shoei
Doing tours and long days mean lots of visor swaps, the pods IMO get soft and brittle and after a fair few changes, just pop off... It's not just me, few lads I know who do similar riding and miles get it, and everytime I buy a new pair @ £40 it winds me up I'm doing it on a £500 lid! And the guys in the shops answer is always the same "yup, sold bout 5 this week!" Love my arai, but not suitable if your a long way from home a lot riding around like this!
Good choice, love mine too. Definitely the best fit for my bonce and the visors are just awesome. Happy helmet day.
Ha ha thanks mate. I noticed the visor straight away, like you can see so much more out the side of the lid. Can't wait to try it.... Another positive is my ultimate ear headphones feel more comfy, but I'd also say the venting on the arai's seems far better. Be interesting to see how they compare long term.
There seems to be less interference around your ears with the Shoei, meaning that earplugs don't get dislodged. As for the visor, they seem to have a great water dispersing film or something on them and as for venting, it is just superbly good. No misting up problems and the vents seem to give good all round airflow, rather than my old Arai which seemed to blast small spots of your noggin with cold air. After a while it felt a bit like somebody drilling into my head.
Can't wait to try it out robin... Just sorted my arai out, cleaned it all up, put spare pod on one aside that ripped off on motorway (along with visor) due to broken one being loose... Will order new pods and visors and use as track lid / spare. Still love it And one thing ill miss dearly... Guess ill just have to go back!!
Ha ha... Mums english so she likes cal too! Her brother raff on the other hand forgets his Anglo roots and only cheers for the big man! Although, not so much to cheer for these days One of the reasons I got the UJ design... Just to let the salad grower have it!! You'd never guess he's Italian would ya??
Thats an awesome looking lid mate, looking at getting the Shoei GT-Air Journey TC-2 next as my LS2 is pants
It's a cracking lid mate, got the same, absolutely love it and you don't see many about. Did you go to Helmet City in Tatsfield by any chance ?
