I love and hate that road in equal measure! Police "escorting" bikes over several miles just in case there's an issue. Etc. I was pulled for 94 in a 60 on the road to Oban a couple of weeks ago and they didn't mention the fact that no tax was displayed, black visor, race can etc. tax disc was under the seat but assume that ANPR done what it's supposed to.
dont ask about tax discs on the duke forum or you get flamed as it is actually hard to find somewhere to put it without it hitting a moving part.think the ticket for not displaying is a bit anal, so I have one of these on the car and will get one for the bike too
^^^ +1 what Phantom says about fitted the tax disc on my Panigale, this is the only place that it can be fitted, perfectly legal and visible from the n/s providing I am stopped by a very vertically challenged police officer. I was going to say Pigmy police officer but that would very un PC. (See what I did there......twice)

This reminds me of a very funny story regarding a friend who selected the wrong bolt when fitting his tax disc to his Panigale. He realised his mistake as soon as he removed the bolt and the rear suspension collapsed and the bike fell on its side! I kid you not, you couldn't make it up!!
I did hear of one member on another forum using a caliper mount bolt to mount there "carbon" holder, needless to say the bolt came loose and was lost near wrecking the caliper.
Only one problem with them changing the rules and updating them IT WILL REDUCE THERE INCOME! So I can't see them changing them any time soon, as it's easy money.
Oh they will find other ways to screw the motorists i assure you, the DVLA did trial chips ( thats mircochips, not ur greasy sort down from the chippy ) in number plates which trakced where ever you went, tracked where ya lived and where ur vehicle was stored ( ins purposes ) and obviously how fast you was going from point A - Point B and in the interest of national security ( that old chestnut ) you could be ruled out of investigations as the system proved u was not at. A certain point. It got shelved due to the high rise in costs, but as technology gets cheaper and more accurate, its COMING!!!! Not if but when, hopefully ill be too old and grey to be going anywhere fast
And before u say get after market plates, the law required all ne wplates ro be chipped and registered with the DVLA computer so even after market stuff u was still in the system sum where, isnt it great living under a microscope and we call this the " free world and democracy!! " Ha ha bloody Ha
100 big ones - HELL YEAH id be pissed ..... now im guessing you lads are talking about what we call our "yearly bike registration" but you call it "tax" ??? - correct me if im wrong. here, we play for a single seat motorcycle registration to ride on the roads in queensland = $190 AUD per year thats it - nothing more to pay till the next year - now after you pay this, the department of transport queensland sends you a colourful "registration sticker" which you display (hide) on your blade somewhere. if you get done by the cops for not paying your yearly registration - its like a $1000 penalty and lots of points off your licence (they burn you big for not paying your "rego" (yearly registration) this is what one looks like - the month # in the middle, the year on either side with the rego # above the month number, signed by the minister for the department of transport queensland (arse biscuit) - this year its a red colour which looks good on the blade but i tell ya what boys, im not putting a bloody pink one on my bike if they ever did one.
In South Oz they did away with the labels 2 years ago, but before that it was illegal to not display it, but I have Never displayed a label on a bike, always kept it under the seat and had no problems. Maybe Queensland will catch up one day............
