Cat Removal On RR7

I'm thinking about removing the cat on my RR7, I know this will improve the gas flow, however will I have to have the ECU remapped to compensate for the extra flow/fuelling and will removing the cat throw up any MIL light fault for lambda or O2 sensors ??
If the ECU does need a new map, will a PCV sort it out ?

The sensor is PRE cat done loads of these, cut the back out drill the four spot welds and open up, remove cat, reweld plate and replace. No one has reported major issues with it BUT IMO all mods to intake or exhaust should be corrected/mapped. Pc3 go cheap on eBay Defo improves mid range power. A PC will improve a stock bike FYI.

 

The CAT is located in the headers just near the suspension linkage, are we talking about the same thing?. I've got a set of US headers fitted and its got no CAT.

 

Yep that's the one its next to the rear brake footpeg behind the heat shield.
Can the internals be removed on the bike or is it a pipes off job ?

 

It could be what arthur is on about although it read like cutting the rear silencer apart and removing the titanium shield to allow clear exit of the gases.

 

I purchased some USA headers no cat simply swop

 

Done that to the rear silencer already
I have seen these ...though I might message the seller and ask if it has the lambda sensor fitting in it

The 04/5 Blades did,nt have the sensor so the likelihood is those pipes wont have a hole for one.

 

From what I have read on here and other forums there seems to be conflicting thoughts on whether there are any benefits to removing the cat on the RR7, although stainless steel front pipes would always look nice .... though not as nice as titanium

 

All the ones I've done say YES, I have done around 10 rr6 and 7s plus a few 600RRs, the US headers is a easier option but if you have a grinder etc then you can get something for nothing!

That blue does look good, though I'd like to see how they look after a 1000 miles with a bit of road salt chucked in for good measure ;-)
I suppose I could pull the pipes off and remove the internals of the cat
Or.. Buy the stainless ones, drill a hole for the lambda sensor and weld in a threaded insert for it...
Thus keeping the stock exhaust as a spare should I want to return it to standard

Yes mate, I remove the exhaust and refit plus decat the headers takes me about 3 - 4 hours.

 

I have a sensor eliminator plug for these, bought in error (my 05 didn't have one) if u fancy parting with a fiver.

 

I won't need one mate as I've got an o2 eliminator fitted with a PC3 but thanks for the offer.
