You could always drill a hole in the plastic case and pop a grommet in along with the power cable so water won't get in, ok you couldn't go swimming with it but should work perfect while on the bike in the rain.
Wow great quality!! Your right though batterys dont last long, however I got two from hk for £10 so have three with me on rides now which last most of the day or long before the card is full They are not genuine GP batterys but last just as long
I think I will probably go down that route and just get a couple of spare batteries, there was so much footage today that I missed that would been great. Although on a sad note as I was coming back from Hawes towards Leyburn there had been a awful collision with a couple bikes & possible car. It was a GSXR which the chassis had been snapped in half, I just seen the front wheel and bars, part of the frame against a stone wall, no sign of the rear end anywhere. It didn't look good and hope the rider made it !!!
Lost a good mate on that exact stretch of road a few years ago - never good news and clearly some massive forces / energy involved. I will look at the Manon Cafe FB page, there was a reference to something 'bad news' from today but did not see what it was
Also - you can buy 'skeletal' cases for GoPro's to allow you fit a power feed to the unit, or do like I do and pop it on charge when you stop to keep it topped up
Good news about the accident (if it was this one) for all those of us concerned for those involved in the accident on A684 to Hawes I have had word that all are ok apart from one who broke his ankle. just thankful they all ok because it was a freak accident a lads yoke snapped and he then went in to path of another biker coming the other way. Not 100% that is what you saw, but sounds like it could have been
Have you got a link to where you get one of them from please - tempted to rip out the 2 Cig sockets (one switched, one perm live) and replace with one (or 2) of them.
Certainly sounds like it, really glad to hear all are ok Very lucky indeed on that stretch of road, nothing but stone walls and trees
Oh, right didn't know that! Another benefit of the Drift then as this has an additional IP rated back cover which allows the connection of a USB lead and a Mic lead whilst the camera is in use.
Got mine from Andy O at Demon Tweeks, about £24 I think. You can get two versions, one comes with a plug to go straight in to where the battery charger normally goes or a stand alone jobbie (which I have) which wires straight back to the battery with an inline fuse and a safety low voltage cutoff so an accessory doesn't drain the batt if left plugged in without the engine going. I only use mine to power my TomTom and that switches off after 10 secs anyway if it detects the engines been switched off. It's hand for charging my mobile too an the tank bag. Future proof as everything comes with a USB charge these days OptiMate & AccuMate Accessories
these are the batterys I got, the charger is very handy too!! GoPro Hero 3 Camera Kit - 2x Batteries + UK Mains Battery Charger & Car Adaptor | eBay
New you would love them Andy. As said there are other cameras you can get that are bloody good. but now I have the go pro I have extra battery's, mounts, floaty handle to use for swimming and holidays and the chesty I have yet to use. found the Screen is great but kill's the battery very quick. lasts about a hour with it on. why I got 3 battery's for tracksays and days out
I have the Hero2 silver and I use 720p and 60fps as recommended by the track day camera guy and I would have to agree it's the best and smoothest looking picture having tried them all
Ive not tried the 720 60fps yet.. Will have to give that a go I normally use the 1080 30 fps but do fancy the 60 fps..
It looks so incredibly smooth that you forget that it's in any less detail trust me Problem is though that it shows any any vibrations much worse so not good if you are mounted to a wobbly bit of fairing as my brother found out recently
I do agree, i think the 60fps is the key to super smooth playback cheers Lamb, will order later today.
The next problem you will have is where to store 100's of gig worth of videos which build up ive just ordered an external drive to store all mine on. Plus need to hide them from her indoors so she doesnt see and bans the bike haha
Dont wanna burstur bubble but i bought a new one of these off the Drift stand at BSB for £270 including 3 free accessories. My son in law went one better and paid£280 and 4 accessories.
