The Saxo thing started because they were cheaper to insure than a factory built 'quick' car. Crash it into Halfords covered in glue, don't declare it and until it implodes on you, the insurance company knows no different. The cult just grew around it. Fast and Furious didn't help matters. It's easy make a shit box look and sound like a Vin Diesel film prop.
It's strange that the sax's took off so much as they were just a re-bodied Pug 106. I even replaced the rear axle on my 106 with a saxo axl
Ah but when I was rallying, the 106 was considered the logical successor to the 205 for the clubman. Inherently stable, massive list of interchangeable parts, strangely, much cheaper if you bought them in Citroen boxes, and stupid cheap to insure.
hate them, i mean.... they spend all their money on them. modify them how they want them do nothing but drive around in them with their mates gather in places where others are so that they look at each others machines put loud exhausts on them which they think sounds great think they are some victimised minority group like to drive fast and demonstrate their high skill level perform tricks such as hand brake turns, wheel spins etc etc to be honest, they aint to different from us, they are just younger guys with a similar interest to us.... sure the majority of the young lads are nice fellas with a passion for their cars, it's prob just the 10% of them are total idiots which form our opinion of them.... much like the rest of the world views us bikers? Do i find them annoying, slightly, do i think they look stupid, yeah, have i had a bad experience with them, never.... do they think i look like a prat in my all in one gladiator leathers. no doubt.
I agree with you to an extent jimbo but most of them round york are absolute twats behind the wheel. And even though i do have a fruity exhaust i keep the noise levels to a minimum during unsociable hours. Unlike these idiots who race up and down the bypass every night a mile from my house keeping me awake!!
see I could have been confused for one.had my focus with tinted windows, fancy lights, black alloys and my ICE.I have moved on to an audi A4 and I am starting all over again with the mods.just dont like anything standard but I am no racer.

yes you are, mine comes in the form of a 1000W sound system.enough to render the rear view mirror useless if I turn it right up. but due to audi's good sound proofing it doesnt annoy the neighbors
