Another gimmick just like the 3 power levels, wots wrong with learning how to ride a bike, learning how it reacts to ur different responses of throttle, braking n input to bars n how it rides in all weathers!

I rather the dealers gave peeps a free hr lesson in advance riding than another gimmick making people think theyre invincible on the bike cus the bike will do everything n how boring is that, so glad me blade aint got all these daft gadgets!!

I dont think its a gimmick or gadget like the 3 power levels.
It has something to do with safety and people who think they are better in riding
without all the electronics, dont have to buy it or just switch it off.
I never heard a Moto GP rider saying that a TC is a gimmick nor a quick shifter or seamless gearbox.
The only reason that in BSB are no electronics allowed are to minimize the cost of the bike.

Never said i was better than sum electronic aid, however im loathed to pay for summat that is stuck on my bike by the manufacturer in the name of safety that i prob wudnt use, my bike dont have stability control nor have the past 5 sportsbikes, if this gimmick is such a brilliant idea y wasnt it put on bikes yrs ago n on all bikes, surely the technology has always been in the motor industry???

But as u say i can switch it off ( if i bought a bike with it on in the first place ) n am sure i even heard sum motogp riders, namely Rossi and casey saying the electronic aids were affecting the way the bikes had to be ridden n it was more fun when they didnt have the electronic aids?! So no not every rider is bemoaning some wud prefer not to have it, just like me :D

The article says its the next evolutionary step on from abs and traction control in that it's combining the two technologies! So Ktm have been tryin to combine the two and develop something new that can make a difference to motorcycling, it may work or it may not but someone's gotta put in the R&D and try new things!

Everything on the current bikes had to get tested at one point by one manufacturer in order to make it the standard!
USD forks(now BPF setups) were not standard too long ago now they are taken for granted they should be on all bikes, why because they work better than previous generations but I bet not so long ago people were saying the same thing about normal forks!
They work so why change em! Everything has to evolve in order to keep people interested and for things to progress in either right or wrong direction.

Another contributing factor in the way the motor industry as a whole is progressing with regards to electronics and driver/rider aides is the interference from the likes of the good folks that like to make rules for the EU!

The latest idea to come from the EU is to have a system that will stop the vehicle from speeding! The device would utilise the likes of GPS and mapping systems to determin the speed limits and make sure the vehicle can't go above that speed! The current version of the rule being discussed would take the choice of speed away from the rider/driver which could mean the vehicle cutting power and applying the brakes mid corner if vehicle got above the limit! Also would mean the inability of using speed to get out of trouble if required.

Can't see it ever becoming into fruition at the moment but with the creation of the likes of the above system being developed it means a version of the above ruling being viable is that much more closer!

I did not mean you in person nor your abilities to ride on your bike!
It should be a general statement.
The system however is developed by Bosch and already integrated into a KTM bike as seen
in Mailand ( Eicma ) and probably next month in Cologne.
It’s a combined system which will help the rider to get to the limit and prevent him to go
    over the limit.

The new lean-angle MM5.10 sensor unit can be combined with other Bosch motorcycle products, such as ABS and traction control, as well as engine management and dynamic control functions.
It will help to reduce the risk that the front will slip away in corners for example.
The system will be on the market in different versions for different bikes, also for off road bikes as well.
I think that you will see the system working and integrated on the S1000RR and Kawa ZX10R in the near future, if we talking about Supersport Bikes.
It’s just the future and as long as you can switch it off, it will keep everybody happy, even people who think that only the “old” stuff is better and safer.

what ever happened to learning to ride a bike rather than relying on aids to do the work for you.
if you cant use your brakes in a corner without running wide or crashing go take the bike
to the dealer and swap it for a car :D
