Not a sports bike and I don't like posting links to MCN, however, I think I would buy one of these... Yamaha MT-09 first ride! - | Motorcycle News | New Motorbikes | Buyers Guides | MCN MT-09 2014 Features - Motorcycles - Yamaha Motor Europe
Feedback has been very positive. I took one out the other day and it goes very well, pulls lovely. Light and nimble and the brakes are brilliant. Will be popular, get the exhaust changed and it will sound pretty decent as well, like a mini R1. This looks interesting as well if they make it, based on the same engine
Like the look of the mt09. Will have a good look round one. 1st real alternative to the street but reports suggest maybe not quite as sporty ride? Still very cool bike and nice one to yamaha for having a bash. That r3 would make a great road bike!!
This is exactly what Honda should be doing, developing new exciting machines not Taiwanese cheaply built and poorly assembled run of the mill 500's. Will be interesting to see how the new Hornet is received and what they have done to it other than add 50cc.
Never tried the Street to compare but no 'sporty' might be too strong, bags of fun down your local scratch though. Not one to be dismissed for sure reckon with the addition of the pipe it would help a lot and yeah it's good to see Yam going out on a limb or back to their roots if you like.
The not sporty comment might not have been best description. they said the front end was SLIGHTLY vague (but not bad) and not as sharp as the street t which is commonly accepted as the most focuses sporty handling naked? (I / they might be wrong) that said, it offered bags of character and other positives etc.... And totally agree, certainly not to be overlooked. If Lisa can sit on it and is user friendly for her to start riding again, and I can borrow it and have fun on it then I'd be interested in getting one tbh. Will test one for sure
If seat heights an issue then looking at the suspension set-up it should be a doddle to change the dog legs so don't think it will be long before kits are available.
Had a street triple in and tbh it changed the way I view triumph it was amazing, if they make the R3 I think they will cover all corners in racing, MV F3, R6, R3, CBR600RR I mean can you imagine supersport! Yamaha said they don't understand the MT09 but that's the point they have been loosing sales to bikes they don't understand but the market gets them so Yamaha made a bike they don't get, in the hope the market will buy them, it's a old gamble by Yamaha but I take my hat off to them for a brave move I into the unknown!
I quite fancy one of these. Bit more pricey than the Yam but drool... MV Agusta Brutale 800 tripistone
