So I'm biting the bullet and giving the 55 profile rear a go. I mean what have I got to lose as I eat tears pretty quickly so if it doesn't work for me it won't last too long ;) my brother gets on well with it on his Big Bang and a fair few of you have converted happily and the increased leant over contact patch just makes sense!

I've picked the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa for a few reasons... It won the best tyre in its category, it's got more grip than the Michelin so will give me a bit more on fast track days and I had one on my RR7 and found it fantastic and even was quite grippy when I got caught in a rain shower.

So bye bye 50 profile Michelin Power 2CT hello 55 profile Pirelli DRC :D

Don't get me wrong.... I'd put the Michelin PR3 on for the winter but I just can't bring myself to subject her to that dirty wet environment I just like her too much ;)

You will love it, I have just had one on my blade and it feels very good, mine is just the Rosso 2 as winters approaching but even that had great grip last week at cadwell, I will keep the 55 now but move to the rosso corsa next year

Yeah I'm trying to save the hero riding for the track fez, I'm hoping I've grown out of flattening the rear on the road. I hear the centres of 55 profiles last a little longer before flattening?

that is also my opinion, because the 55 profile is a taller tyre even when it starts to wear it becomes more of a rounded tyre instead of squaring off like the 50 profiles do, if that makes sense

i managed to wear my drc's down to the bands in just under 2500 miles but even at that stage the tyre still held a very nice shape to it

so far so good on my blade, def feels better when you really push it.
just need a better profile front now as I got a bit of a front end movement
when I tried to really push it lol.

Be Interesting seeing what you think of the 55 profile as I am tempted to go that way myself. I might as well wait until next year now though or over the winter.

Can you change the profile of the front as well or do you just leave that as it is. I do not have as much confidence in the front of mine as I did with my Ducati's, wonder if it is tyre pressure as it was down to about 29/30 ?

Ian you want between 36-40 for normal road riding in the front mate. Much either side of that would feel awful! My front was pumped to 44 by a garage and I realised when the front started to give when braking hard into corners recently.

    As high as that ?

I thought reading that tyre pressure thread that a lot were running 32 front 34/36 Rear, better have another look.

My rear only has 32 !!

its something you learn after a while, took me near A year before I had confidence in the front end,
think its because of the different riding position and that you feel slightly higher up.definitely didnt push
the front end of the blade as hard as I did with the duke when I first got it.I run 34 in the front now and 36 rear.

I think the manufacturers quote even higher than that for road use
