Does anyone have any links for the above to download in either video or book format? can you pm the links please Im finding my general knowledge on biking is severely limited, i cannot corner for the life of me! My mates and I passed recently, about a month or so ago, and 2 of them have 600cc bikes and they are leaving me for dust....im a good few mintues behind them whenever we go riding together. I know its best to ride your own ride and learn at your own pace, but i was hoping that a "manual type" of video or book that could break it down into bits on how to road ride and corner safely but fast would my lacking knowledge. If anyone has any tips on how to corner better or general road riding then I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks.
You're going in the right direction HRC, I rate these books very highly and constantly refer to them always learning something new each time I read them. Think I got mine from Waterstones.
I was told when I first started riding that I think too much. I bought Twist of the Wrist 1 in book format, as lambchops said, acting is awful, Sports Riding Techniques, then I bought Road Craft as used by the police and Twist of the Wrist on DVD. Not to leave out Simon Crafar's MotoVudu on DVD. All are very good in there own right. For practical training I first started with Ron Haslam Race School but CSS are renowned for being probably the best going on from Twist of the Wrist. Same guy. You have said it already. It's so easy to say but not to do when your mates are looking like they're having fun on front of you but if they are real mates they will always wait for you. Go back to basics I would say. What makes the bike steer. Steering input, countsteer (pull on outside bar rather than push inside one keeps both arms bent), pivot points, camber effects things too. Throttle, when to use it based on the type of corner and lean angle. Please just take your time, enjoy and be safe.
Twist of twist of the wrist is good for the information but MotoVudu is better by Simon Crafer Motovudu, the dark art of performance - from Simon Crafar I have the book and DVD and it's so worth having
Twist of the Wrist II is a great video... and pdf (I have both) a bit cheesy in parts, but it explains all the science. Highly recommended to anybody. Actually a lot of the principles go through my head when I am doing the ride and pushing the envelope a bit. It's Great stuff.
Don't try too hard, I'm sure more than one of us on here have been shown a clean pair of heels on a track by a 600, or in my case a 400. Take your time, read eatch and learn but don't try and become a riding god too early.
Yeah both are great altho the do tend to contradict each other a bit! T.O.T.W 2 does over complicate things a bit and is down right cheesy where as Motovudu is slick and simpler to follow! But saying that the best biking DVD I bought was Advanced Police Riding Techniques again very cheesy and the music is gawd awful a mixture of porn & country but the information is invaluable for safe,fast road riding and confidence! As a 90% roady and 10% tracky rider I find it more useful
The TOTW books are great, but I thought the videos were terrible. Motovudu was total rubbish and told me nothing.
