I've stripped the trackbike down today and removed nearly all the engine bolts. There are only two left and I can't for the life of me get them out, they are like a threaded bush thingy. Tried a 19mm too big and 18mm too small lol.
That looks something like the threaded castle nuts that I have on the SP1, and I had to make (you can buy) a special tool to remove them. Type in engine removal tool in ebay and see what comes up (for your bike obviously)
GSXR 750 600 ENGINE SOCKET TOOL SUZUKI MOTOR LOCK NUT PEG SPANNER CASTLE 35sa | eBay 1 like this Tyke too late for this 1 though
Hi buddy you have took the castle nut off these with the 4 notches ? A 19mm socket does I I took a engine out yesterday but it had to be the 6 point socket looks like a nut not the 12 point socket buddy
its imperial which is why the metric ones wont fit took a k4 one out before think its something like a 3/4"
What I'm talkin about is apparently the engine spacers. Gonna have another tickle with it tomoro when I can see what I'm actually doin lol
If it is this one mate 22mm socket and notch it out with a hacksaw they are not tight or a dot punch will spin them off
that one on the right (last pic) back it off and it comes out and pulls the spacer out of the engine allowing in to drop.the bolt on the left attached to the to long pin needs removed first.
the nut on the right and rod are all one bit, this comes out first then when you turn the imperial nut on the left(the rounded one) the castle nut stays in place and the spacer retracts from the engine. you can then support the engine and remove the engine bolt under this one allowing the engine to drop out.
I will have a look at this tomoro phantom but I'm pretty sure the spacers aren't the castle type like the pic above.
Ok I would say that, that is almost the same setup as the SP1. I would say that I would not take out the bolts first though. If I remember right, once you undo the castle nut you then supported the engine, before winding the engine spacers back. Then making sure the engine was fully supported, removing the large bolts. (the engine hangs from these and takes a bit of wiggling)
there is another engine mount directly below this on which I leave in as well as using a jack to help support it.
