Having completed about 5k since I bought my RR5 I thought I really should change the oil and filter, a service will shortly follow.

So I took off the fairing, warmed the bike up, turned the bike off and left it a few minutes, put the waste oil tray under the sump plug and deliberately left the oil filler cap in so that the oil wouldn't initially come out as quickly. Then I carefully removed the plug. Queue oil pissing about two feet over the tray, over my hand and nearly hitting the front wheel. This was followed by my friend, who apparently was there in a supervisory capacity, pissing himself laughing to the extent that he had to run to my toilet.

I have since repositioned the tray and left the bike......alone in the garage.......with the light out AND without her cover on as punishment. NOT HAPPY!!!

That raises an interesting point. Some people do it every couple of thousand but I'm not sure this is that much of a benefit to the bike.

Honda advise a service every 4K miles, I simply deny them that and do it myself

I think Wedgie uses more oil than petrol.
