Yeah tbh it's not home and work that I am worried about - they are both pretty secure and less likely to be targeted by thieving scum. It's the far flung ride out days where I might be in the middle of nowhere and not knowing if the place is secure or not. So I'd rather assume not and carry something to secure the bike...
Have a look at securityforbikes.com. I've got a couple of the Pragmasis chains and have also used the Torq ground anchor. Think they are pretty similar to Almax, so are pretty decent. *It's the Torc ground anchor and 16mm Protector chain*
Someone could just unscrew it off easy and the pin would slid off the disc ? Am I right? Bikes are only safe if anchored down an alarm system or tracker I have gps tracker, data tool system 3 an big Oxford chain. Plus disc lock
will do cheers mate my uncle is john alec smith I only know scotland st but not a clue where that is as its been awhile
I saw some video clips showing even the most expensive chains being cut with long handled bolt cutters in less than 30 seconds. Grinders not needed. I guess the take home from that was that chains really only slow down the process, I guess by 30 seconds. Be that as it may, I have a Kryptonite New York Chain, a Ground Anchor, a Xena Disk Lock, and a Scorpio SR-i900 alarm with proximity sensor. The Scorpio is great because there's a remote fob you carry with you that lets you know if someone is tampering with your bike. It's claimed that it works to up to half a mile away form the bike.
Trouble is if the scum bags want ur bike bad enuf and they know where its gonna be kept then its a matter of time before they work it out, professionals even do recce's just to see woy security u got before coming back n doing the deed, its a shame that people cant leave other peoples property alone these days, only other secure way wud be to keep the bike in the house but ow many of us can justify that to the Mrs or have the room??!!
This video is pretty cool by the almax manufacturers showing a dude tryin to attack there chain with large loppers! Sure I have seen other comparison tests with other competitors chains doin same thing! https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=8&ved=0CHMQtwIwBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DozppzywsLsk&ei=YupZUqGQDeLc4APj8ID4Dg&usg=AFQjCNG04o8TkIn1gxQ-_wSuLHjsmOoT1Q&sig2=ln0keQxJpNT2sFnWutjNZA&bvm=bv.53899372,d.dmg But again it all boils down to if they really want it they will take it! Not much will stop a portable plasma cutter!
Here's the YouTube clip i was talking about. An eye-opener. Big brand, and high cost chains compromised in 30 seconds and less. Various Sold Secure and Thatcham chains chopped. - YouTube
