No not really. I'm gonna run it for while and if I hate it with a passion then I'll buy a standard replacement.

its just a noise restriction flap in the exhaust pipe.
just pull the cables off it so it stays open all the time.

Bearing in mind that the internals are titanium, at least in mine are, and quite tough, I was using carbide burrs to open the holes up and struggling,(used a plasma cutter eventually), cheap hole cutters might not cut it....no pun intended
However the mod is worth it in gas flow and also the all important sound effect :)

Not sure what model yours is but the hole cutter works on the 04-05 model
As I have drilled out loads of them with the one cutter.

Mine is a late '07, I'm not saying to hole cutter method doesn't or won't work :)
Just that it's worth getting a good quality one like a Starrett rather than the flimsy ones that are sometimes bundled in with a drill package or one from the pound shop.
I had my silencer in half and had chopped most of the baffle out with a sharp chisel and it was the bits around the pipes I was using the carbide burr on and it wasn't making much headway.
Usually they grind quite happily through stainless and hardened steel..

Yeah for total gutting its a hammer job to break the spot welds.
I done mine as a winter project so I wouldn't miss a days riding
But it only took a day to open, gut, pack and re-seal.most of that
Was waiting on th bro in law to bring the tig down.
