Just bought a set for my trackbike ready for the Jerez trip having never had these fitted before what's the procedure in what you do to discs before you fit them ,as the destructions were not that clear. Ta
If you are fitting Carbon then you need to clean the residual off the rotors, otherwise the carbon pads will not adhere to the rotors given the standard coating of cohesion of road pads. Use thinners or a petroleum based cleaner to remove all traces of build up to allow the pads to bed in.
First off Jay you need to clean your discs with emery cloth to remove any residue from your last brake pads. When you use them for the first time you should do two or three laps with gentle braking to pass the "transfer film" to the discs, your two sighting laps will cover this. Then you let them cool down for a while and next time you go out you should be fine. Remember these pads are for track use only and as such need to be warmed up before they start to work efficiently. Wondered how long it would be before you got these!!
Cheers have been happy with the EBC double h pads but have heard good things about these when hot so wanted to try them .Have heard they are crap in the wet though.
I've recently fitted these Brembo Carbon Ceramic pads to the ZX10R Brembo Brake Pads - Demon Tweeks They, as stated need all your Discs sanding on all sides with emery cloth or find sandpaper to remove traces of 'lesser' pads. Don't forget to do the discs on ta spare wheels also! Then a couple of miles of light applications then go for it! I find the above pads in the link a bit shyte in the wet, which is to be expected as they never warm up much but in the dry they are amazing. On heavy braking at Oulton they change 'tune' (sound) when they reach their optimum temperature and they gain a whole new level of feel and performance as they zing off the speed!
I always fit these to mine after your first set its just change and go . As probs said above emery clean discs or a bit of scotchbrite pad. I fit then 1 finger dab the brake when running down filtering lane onto track couple of easy brakes on the sighting lap. Then forget about them
