    That's a crock-O-shyte with all that damage!

Might be worth £500 at a push

I've spoke to this guy and he said he would do a deal around 3500 with the spares. It has standard suspension bit is reworked . Ohlins kias will rework and spring a standard shock to suit your weight for around 130. Well well worth it. My 600rr performed aswell at oulton with the reworked one in as it did when I put my Ohlins ttx bsvk in.You'll pick up some Ohlins internals and a rear shock for around 800 I'd of thought . The gpr damper on the r6 is probbably a good a damper as you can get (330 quids worth) plus the bike comes with a v5. All club racing is fine with blank frames provided they haven't been tampered with. It won't be a problem at scruteering. V5s aren't necessary . I sold my 600rr track bike in August before we got married and have been looking for one since october. I fancied the r6 in the link I posted but an rrn blade came along instead and picked that up today.. Motoforum is a great place to buy a race bike as admin do all checks with vosa and the police database to ensure there's no dodgy history.. Good luck with your hunt. Nothing better than a pocket full of pounds whilst looking for a new toy

Forgot to say rang ACU yesterday and they confirmed that frame numbers and engine numbers need to be intact and untampered with for racing OR need to be completely blank. This would pass...

Also for robinh73.. how much more difficult/expensive would it be to source 600rr parts if required? I remember you saying R6 bits were a lot easier to comeby. Had an 08 600rr before the blade and it handled incredibly, if was to go back on the same bike now I would be soooooooo much faster, probably than on the blade. Does tempt me to get one for the track because they are so tiny and flickable.

Spose that's why Ron Haslams Race School uses the CBR600

He uses them because of his affiliation with Honda tbh mate.

YT - if you look at any club race results the majority of bikes will be r6's, this is because they are decent, and due to numbers of them being raced spares are plentyful. Also the bike is pretty unchanged from 06.

Also tonnes on any td you go to.

If you haven't rode one, I'd put money on it handling better than your cbr.

    Yes - I love r6's lol

All I can say is that the majority of bikes on the grids that I have been on this year have been R6/ZX6. Even at British Supersport and World supersport levels, it is the same. I am not knocking the CBR6 as it is a good bike, but to get good power out of them it is expensive. This puts people off. Superbike magazine did a 600 group test recently and put all the 600s up against the MV675 and the new Triumph 675R, which has come with very high praise. They did an extensive test and the outcome was that the R6 was as good as the 675. Not bad considering this was the R version of the Triumph with Ohlins as standard and the fact that the R6 has remained virtually the same since 06.
I know what you say about the CBR600 handling, but this is the same with all 600s. The R6 is sublime in the way it goes around corners. As I have said, you would probably love the CBR6 and it would be a great bike for you that would be competetive, but it is still the minority bike in the paddock. I guess that if you are going to include the CBR600 in your search, then it does open up the field a bit more, so allows you more choices of bike and you could also therefore include the GSXR600. Maybe get a good 600, regardless of make, try it for a year and see how you go. You probably won't lose much on it.
Spares is another thing to bear in mind. With the best will in the world and not knocking your talent and riding skills in the slightest, when racing, you are inevitably going to crash at some point. Virtually all the lads I race with have had an off at some point this year. I have been unlucky and had 2. This has been a good test of the spares availability for the R6 and all I can say is that I have not had a problem at all in getting all the bits I need. Just look at what is getting advertised on motoforum for breaking and there are a good number of R6 spares around.
At the end of the day though, it will be a first year in racing for you and the main thing is that you are out there doing it. Whatever you buy, make sure it isn't overly tuned. A stock motor is ideal and will mean minimal refresh costs at the end of the season. You won't need 125-130hp in your first year. Use it as a learning curve and gain experience.
