It was my 2006 R6, which was on stock suspension and lap 5 of the last race of the day. Lying in 8th place I think, coming onto the start finish straight, I got on the gas and the rear wheel just let go with no warning, didn't even slide or spin up, it just went. Not good, hence my lack of confidence since in tyres. Horrible bloody feeling sliding and feeling your wrist crack.
Do I pay £3500 for this and get myself a rear shock for it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-r6-track-bike-/271302330334?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3f2ae107de
Yep, I was gutted as it was my second big off. Had got over the first one and then had this one. Shame as I was really on the pace too, only 3 seconds a lap off the fastest guys out there, so not happy. Since then I have been running a lot slower, but it will get back there with time.
can't knock the gixxer, good bike for sure. A mate runs a 2006 one and it goes well enough. Crashes quite efficiently also. Do you think that you would be able to save up that extra bit and go for something newer such as that? Or (dare i say it) you could sell the Blade??!!!??!!
The blade is still on finance rob otherwise I'd downgrade it! Also need a van this winter so unfortunately 3.5K is still my budget
You will still get a good bike for that anyway, so don't lose sleep over that. Lots of choice of vans out there also and again probably not a bad time to be buying. I reckon though that once you have started racing you will probably find that the Blade is redundant and once the finance is complete, it will be sold.
You will be surprised how it takes over, in a way that track days don't. It is almost as though during the season you live for the next race and most free time is taken up tinkering and fettling. I certainly don't miss the road riding now. The buzz and thrill is something that you would never get on the road or trackday.
Yeah I can appreciate this and will learn it! Only hol I get with my dad though unless I sell the blade and buy an older bike?
