This might seem petty and anal to some but it really grates on me when Peeps get these words mixed up or even only use one word for different meanings.

I hasten to add this is not aimed at anyone in particular on here but I notice it seemingly more and more in daily life and internet forums.

When you BUY something from a Shop etc and are discussing it retrospectively, you are saying you have 'BOUGHT' (Purchased it) an item not 'BROUGHT' it.
    The past tense of BUY

i.e. I 'BOUGHT' this off ebay (No R)

'BROUGHT' is when you have physically moved said item from A to B (With an R) The past tense of BRING

i.e. I 'BROUGHT' the item off ebay home in my Car.

    Combining the two thus

I 'BOUGHT' a Power commander off ebay and went to pick it up from the seller, I then 'BROUGHT' the PCV home in my car! [IMG]

........................sorry about that, Rant over, as you were! [IMG]

Haha I had best use another word then as I often get these two words wrong as well as quite a few others.

My other half used to be an English lecturer and she constantly pulls me up on grammer, spelling and use of words etc. She seemed to understand the words F..k Of. because I felt a kick in the shin after I moaned about her keep pulling me up on my use of the English language.

I think though that if i had bought/brought/brung her to a fire staion though she would have been cr*p at putting out fires.

But thn al, sum cud say its there post and cud tell ya 2 do 1!?

Do you hate the term lol after followed by a ;)

Not having a dig at you mate but this thread really could alienate some dudes - but maybe live and let live is what I say!? I could be good at maths but crap at spelling, or blessed with the eloquent tounge of Shakespeare (im not its just an example) but couldn't tell you how to change a lightbulb.

Where as some dudes are that way inclined / post like that but bring a huge wealth of knowledge and experience to the forum we all benefit from.

I think even art makes spelling mistakes and isn't 100% perfect on grammar. Lol ;)

I for one wouldn't want to loose that, or see folk get nasty with each other. Not the end of the world surely.

    Chillax dudes.

Ps - isn't it "some posts wrote on here?!" I don't know - I ain't that great at english.

Is fink same as think?? :p

As stated this day an age its easier to type in text spk than it it to start typing the full words, it of legible and makes sense i dont see wot the problem is.

And trouble with picking other peoples faults ( if thats what they are ) is that your own faults / typing errors come back to bite ya in the bum when the people your moaning about scrutinise your posts n pick out the mistakes :)

Sorry dudes - my bad call on this, I've taken the Sinewave approach and cracked open a Becks! - sure my post will come back to haunt me... 10+ years with Blackberry keyboards mean i've never done the whole text speak thing (or is it coz I is ancient...)

That's what's annoying about a lot of forums including this one!

It'll highlight in red what it feels is an incorrect spelling but doesn't offer the function to correct or offer alternatives, WHY?

I end up Googling words in that case to ensure correct spelling cause I'm anal like that mostly until I'm on the fourth Glass then Fek it! [IMG]

I actually think the spelling, gramma etc from the members and visual aspect of this forum really clear.

If you go on piston heads etc its a nightmare with images, smileys, adverts, qoutes boxes, text speak etc i find it hard to follow.

Hence why I give up and come back here.

This is a bike forum, not an educational event. I admit my grammer and spelling is at times shocking, but then I don't earn a living from it so I couldn't give a toss if it upsets some dudes on a forum.

Let's try to remember some may have genuine issues, threads like this just stop some from posting in fear of being corrected or even mocked.

So do me a favour a get a fcuking grip.

Ops, have I spelt something wrong and you need me to correct the spelling so i'm understood?

My "favourite" is when people put a load of pigeon English riddled with bad spelling, punctuation and grammar in their forum signature lines.

Sounds like a similar scenario to say...someone posting "negative comments" in a for sale thread, for example.
