They are undoubtedly an ACE Tyre for those who want very good wet & dry grip plus unbelievable mileage! But for outright grip and feedback you'll not beat these! Albeit at a 2K mileage limit though!
Jeez, looking at that picture of the new PR3 on Sinewaves bike, I have just realised mine are pretty low on tread depth, I had forgot they look like tractor tyres when new, looks like I am off to FWR sooner than I thought
I fitted the PR3 to my lads R1 recently; after riding his bike, I couldnt believe how good they felt in every regard. I was so impressed, I removed a set of almost new Diablo Corsa 3's & fitted them to my Blade also. The PR3 is the best tyre I have experienced on the road; so much so that I wouldnt hesitate to do a track day with them!
dont think he meant he would have them over the corsa's, just that he wouldnt have issues using them on track. tbh, nor would I, and seen guys running very quick on track in them tbh.... would i rather have my racetec's for a dry track, of course!! but it's testiment to these tyres that i'd happy take the road bike on track with PR'3s on.
Have to say I have got PR3's on my old skool R6 that is currently being used at the commuter and have to say the grip in the wet is just epic it really is. My Blade currently has 2CT's on it and I'm thinking about sticking some PR3's on over winter tbh. Also a good tyre for Summer is the Dunlop Sportmax Pro's had them fitted to my R1 and they were amazing for the 30 miles that I used them for before selling the bike lol.
May have to try these when me bt023 are done for. no doubting the milage on these bridgestones but not the best grip I've felt. unless I'm getting too chicken of course!
they run 023's dont they? although the 023's are now superceeded by the T30's i think. and someone i know goes through plenty of both thinks the 023's are better.... not sure if they will stop making the 023's though.
Yeah I've been to RH they used to run 023's now they Run T30's had a T30 on the rear of my Daytona 675 did 50 road miles and 2 track Days Brands Indy and Silverstone Full GP and loads of grip marbled up nicely but marbles neatly at the edge on the T30 so doesn't make the tyre look so knackered and you get a nice smooth surface for the most part.
My point being that the 023 & T30 are a sport touring tyre, just like the PR3. Good enough for some quick boys, in all track conditions. Plenty good enough for me on track these days.
I'm sure the reason that RH school uses those tyres is because it saves a huge amount of time and money swapping tyres overs from dry to wets, the BT023 is a good all round weather road tyre
OK, journey home and back to work this morning, the usual observations that go through my mind after I have left tyres on well past their best (which is everytime) The new set 1. Tyres feel like they are inflated 2. Suspension feels like new again 3. Headbearings feel like they have been replaced 4. Bike tips in smoothly as opposed to a 2 stage drop 5. Bike stops about 4 bike lengths faster 6. I feel like a riding God again OK, OK, I know you are all thinking points 1-5 are an exaggeration, but its just my on feeling on the bike
I often wonder if this is why people change tyre brands (I'm guilty too no doubt) and then think the new latest and greatest is the best tyre ever!! No they are just amazing compared to a fcuked up shot to bits bald tyre. Because even when you change for another set, it's amazing how great the bike feels! Lets face it, how many of us have had an empty track, 5 different bikes and a van load of tyres to swap around and compare.
Just imagine doing that Jimbo. It would be heaven. I wonder if 1:17.89 is very quick round Rockingham anyone got their times? And then theres the wear rate. This is not mentioned anywhere in the super/performance bike mags either.Perhaps doing a readers comparison would find different results.
Be a proper good day that mate ey 1:17!? Who done that? Guessing was one of the latest mags tyre shootouts? They normally do a track / road / longevity report on a new brand but normally not on a comparison report. Tbh, I tend to ignor the shootouts by they mags as they all clearly have there fav brands on each mag, prob the company that clad their staff bikes with fresh hoops. Where can I get a bike journo job!? Lol
