Yeah - I've noticed this too - a lot more vibe through the bars on my 2009 'Blade compared to my old CBR600F :(

I just put it down to breaking my wrist and knuckles a few years ago, didn't realise others had the same problem

Hey I love this subject it is right up my street!!!
When I had my last blade a 2009 model I had these vibes that came only from the throttle side. At first I thought it must be the bar end weight, so I removed it and lubed the rubber bung which goes into the handlebar and put some grease on the bolt that holds it. It seemed slightly better but did not cure the numb sensation I was getting. After some thought about where this resonance is coming from and why only on the throttle side baffled me for a while. Next stop was checking to see if the resonance was travelling up the throttle cables as this was possible cause for such frequency, but alas no it was not as cables not under tension do not resonate at the same frequency, so it was back to the blackboard!! Then I looked at how the handlebars were attached to the forks and this is where the problem lied!! Hooray, the reason why is because the locating lug was just about touching the the upper yoke and was vibrating at given revs, also I noticed that the clamp was not tight up against the yoke like the clutch side was. After undoing the two allen bolts and pulling the handlebar upwards and inwards the problem was solved!!! No more vibrations and it cured the problem, so much so that when I got my new blade it was the first thing I did and I have no vibrations in my 2012 blade.

Nothing to do with vibrations at all IMHO.

It's all down to the tension on the throttle return spring.

On a reasonably constant throttle your right hand is under constant tension holding open the throttle, this is what causes numbness in the Right Hand.

You never ever get Peeps complaining about numbness in their Left Hand, it's always the Right.

Sorry but I disagree given the way harmonics work. Resonant frequency will manifest itself through only solid objects, like footpegs/ exhausts/ handlebars and so on. This is why the exhaust has a rubber bush around it just like the engine mounts and the swing arm, it stops vibrations from one solid object to another. Springs and cables have no fixed harmonic frequency because they have a variable tension, and this cancels out any harmonic distortion. If that was the case then you would feel discomfort at any throttle position on all bikes that have been built since the early years!!! Also given that most clutches nowdays are cable then you would also get the same feeling which you do not.

The Clutch 'argument' is a non starter as it's used so in frequently.

Holding the human body's dextrous parts in any 'tensioned' position leads to cramp/numbness.

Do U really believe that all the complaints from Riders with a Numb RIGHT Hand stem from the OEM's all making Bikes with loose/incorrectly aligned Right Hand Bars and never the Left?

Can you find anyone anywhere on any Forum who complains of LEFT hand numbness and not the RHS?

Sure I agree with you that it is always the right hand syndrome. Perhaps palm pressure on the bars while braking at different angles aggravates the cause which is something the clutch side never experiences .:D

Perhaps the new generation of 'Ride by wire' throttles will eliminate the cause?

I too suffer with this on my MY12 Blade but only on longer runs when cruising on a constant (ish) throttle.

I find it lessens considreabley when having a blast in the twisties as I'm constantly on and off the throttle thus lessening the effect of the constant strain of a steady open throttle hand.

It was also reduced on a recent Tour by using one of these which removes a lot of the 'Gripped' tension on the right hand and uses the weight of the arm via the palm to lift the throttle bodies

Yes I can see this would help. I also note that you use a lightweight alloy version of a bar weight which does not have the same effect of mr Honda designed lump of steel.

I suffer from a numb right hand on long runs only, I thought it was just because I have broken my right hand a few times! My bar end weights are R&G, do you think I should maybe change them back to standard?

after a long run perhaps you should have a tug,cos if your hand is numb it would feel like someone else is doing it,and if the r&g bar ends cause the problem i might buy some myself.:D

This is true Peter, but alas the problem was prevalent before the swap.

So have you tried my method to cure your vibrations?
Perhaps you can let me know.
    Cheers.

I,ve suffered with numb right hand all loads of bikes, CBR, SV , ZZR, it was a bit less on speed trip ( more relaxed riding position ) first job when I get home is try adjust the clamps as Peter T suggests.......worth a try!
