Friday 20th September. We leave Al today, he too is now heading off back to the UK, first thing we have to do before we continue is to get Steve fitted a new rear tyre, we head to Pau with Al where new tyre is fitted. Excellent service and very good price. Steve’s story so I won’t go on. But for reference here they are Actualités de votre magasin - Dafy Moto Pau With Al now Gone, steve and I decide to start heading back towards Spain, we fancy another crack at the roads around the Picos. Took 3 days to get there though, we like to take our time. As most of the time was taken up by tyres we just ambles around the taking in some of the amazing Col’s abd following some of the tour de France routes. A few from today. Oh dear, I tried to forget about this. Only one of the two lows of the whole holiday I had. Meet my mate Does he look sorry? He feckin well should do! As you can see he takes a keen interest in motorcycles, and when he’s done, he pushes them over. No shit, he just walked straight through it, Basta!!! Anyway, not the end of the world, I guess if your bikes going to hit the road on tour? This is perhaps the safest! Few more Night rider I shit you not, the other side of that photo was a 1000ft drop off, almost straight down !
After our riding round we pulled into a place called Argeles-Gazost Quit but nice town, we decided after our busy few days we’d spend two nights off and give us a day off. Lord of the manor Went out for a nice meal and some beers, Steve used his French I just sat there and smiled Ha we was concerned as we hadn’t got the name of the hotel and the address, just in case like. We needn’t have worried, you can see the hotel from space
How fireblade does travel eh Jimbo I was just going to add some more, of this day, but PB has thrown a hissy got some great shots to come, i may even have a couple with the bike in them
Gary its almost like its floating in mid air! Also was it the pink neon's that attracted you both to the place?
Ha, just noticed this Craig, it's upside down, must have been pi//ed. 'again' Should get the rest knocked off tomorrow?
That is the gayest hotel I've EVER SEEN camped up even further by Steve larging it on the balcony lol
He said he felt drawn to it Jimbo, The woman that ran it, omg she was Fcukin hillarious, and IMO seemed to take quite a health interest in the fox. A lot of body language going on there that made me make sure I didn't sleep with my back to him that night I can assure you.
Jim, I've had better offers off women I can assure you! She looked a bit like Hayley Cropper off Corrie and just as full on!! To be honest I think I preferred the blonde piece that knocked Gary's bike over!
Steve, Gary was saying you were still up for it and by the end of the night you were up on the dance floor doing the slosh with hur!
Fantastic write up Gaz, Great pictures, wish I was there. Had to endure some texts of Steve saying what a fab time you guys where having.... Made me well jell. euro trips are the best thing, ever.
She gave me that "butter wouldn't melt" look and I was just about to make a move on her then she pushed my best mate's bike over!
Craig, is stirring again take no notice Steve "should he be up this late?" Ha, but there was a few funny moves on the ferry coming home in that first bit of swell in the bay of Biscay I straightened up a bit after my 5th Sella I'll finish this weekend. Only another few 'hundred' photos. Then I'll do a Barney and rattle a load off onto a vid, load it up on YouTube and post a link. You can only suffer more of this what seems a never ending thread if you click the link
Saturday 21st September. With Jason and Al away, it’s just back to the two of us, We decided last night to have a kick back day before we head off back into Spain, well Sun in France, may as well make the most of it. Did a 10km walk and this is what we saw…. Park across from hotel, seems as good a place to start. A fun weekend happening, and they had a dog show event, being in the Pyrenees, I guess these are as good as any to show? The park was full of them, happy days, we used to have one just like this when I was a pup myself. Trying to get all artistic……….Didn’t work did it? On the other side of the park we found a walk/cycle track, it went from where we was to Lourdes. Suns cracking the flags and all the lizards and geckoes were out in force. Oh, and we found a motorbike sunning itself too. Don’t know what this was inside the flower? But it was big, kind of a zeppelin with wings. We like views don’t we? After a few hours, we diced to head to a medieval village which boasts the oldest organ France? Some more mountains, probably the same? Walking back to the digs we check out some real estate. Other than a few drinks, and food that just about took up or day, back to hotel and start packing, it’s nearly time to head for Spain!
Sunday the 22nd September Out the hotel and it’s time to hit the road, mainly sticking to the D913 D918, taking in some breath taking roads and views on our way to Spain, A couple of Brits who were over for a cycling road informed us the first 8 or so km of the D913 was a mess, recent heavy rains had washed most of the surface away. What we saw along the way up, the pictures could never show the full effect of the devastation and trauma these poor folk must have endured that stormy night! It’s happened before too. Leaving all that behind, we start the climb into Tour De France territory.
Up to Col D Aspin. Not a horse!!! Back over the border we go, east to see the change of landscape to know we are back in Spain, and the mercury is almost hitting 25, not bad for a near autumn day. As ever, we just looked at the map and went where the finger pointed, heading to our destination of Broto on the N260 we stumble across this amazing little road through another gorge. The road is that narrow in places it’s a one way loop for 14km, well worth the look.
