Evening all, Anyone got the HRC tube fitted, wondering if anyone has a picture ? Had the kit a while but not sure whether to fit or not.
the problem is with the HRC tubes, is that the brake fluid turns it creamy white after a while, and starts to look ugly..... otherwise, it saves a few gm
call me anal but I don't like the fact you have to bend the tube , on my gsxr the outlet is vertical so it sticks up and looks good , ive been debating about putting one on me blade but id prefere if I could get an elbow to make the outlet vertical rather than horizontal
You could always fit a 90* pipe fitting like that of the link attached. 90 Degree Hose Joiner Plastic Barbed Connector Pipe Fitting Air Fuel Water WHITE | eBay
Used dot 4 and dot 5 on my bikes before with this and within 6 months both looked crap, might still have one from the beginning of the year to post a pic
I cut mine down thinking that I could fit the other half of the pipe when this one mists up, but that one's in a drawer in the garage and has gone and misted up now too. Must be the cold???
Not sure that its the cold as mine has been on the bike for over 2 years and as you can see in the pic it's still clear
could be a possible reaction to a type of fluid... not sure, but had them on 3 bikes, the first bike I sold after a month, so don't know what happened, but on my 08 blade it misted up and on my R6 it did as well, might also be because the brake was never used and the fluid just sat there without movement or anything... no idea
Brake fluid being hydroscopic attracts moisture which is apparently why it builds up around the tubes. They go misted and brittle in time. Pain in the arse using them being honest. I prefer just using a res. http://souleh.co.uk/G2/var/albums/Motors/CBR1000RR/DSC_0003-2073313939.JPG?m=1379264616
Don't take offence bud , not havin a dig ... but you mean hygroscopic . Hydroscopic is a device to view objects below the surface of water . That's one of those words often used incorrectly . I think the moisture you refer to is sweating of the fluid because the wrong type of plastic tube is used .
both of my tubes have been HRC tubes from honda, so not sure about that one, although I do know regular plastic clear tubes turn white and rock hard after a while as I do my bleeding with them and have to buy new ones every year
