Answered about the blip and external module mate- Yep, I think you'd definitely notice the difference on the track mate, if the HMSS say the duration can be cut it will do it regardless of gear or RPM the shift occurs at. Whilst I've used it down low in the rev range (noticeable difference to the plus) I've also pinned the bike plenty through all gears- The configuration tool captures a summery on the front page of shifter on time, engine run time, number of shifts, max RPM change amongst, HMSS saved time other things- Highest change I have recorded is just over 13.5k, yes the bike was bouncing off the limiter. IMO, it's the bollox
THis sounds stunning - its when you go back to ride a non-QS bike that you really notice how good they are I take it the BMW 'Shift Assist' thing will be going in lots of bins pretty quickly? In my opinion this is a better upgrade than a loud can as it really changes how the bike rides / feels - and the best thing is once you buy it other than a new (quite inexpensive) loom if required and maybe shift rod change it can be moved from bike to bike - unlike a can. AndRP7r (or whatever his screen is) tried my bike with a regular HM QS and said (with a typically big Andy grin) -"I'm def. getting one of those - its awesome!"
Any Chance you or Ben could get a video of it in action? Even if its on a paddock stand? Looks like I will be ditching the Plus very soon if this does what im hoping it does!
I can put the go pro on a take some footage, you'll hear it in action through the rev range but not see much. Also happy to share some screen shots of the logs and front summery screen of the configuration tool, I'll post them later when I'm in of they are of any interest?
Yes to all of those. cheers Sound of it in action at different Revs would be great too as the low rev changes have always been a bit of a short fall for me in terms of the plus. I expected too much from it but it seems the GP is now addressing some of these issues
I found my plus great above 9k because that what I set the durations to, this bad boys inteligent. I was very pleased with the plus, great bit of kit- the GP just takes what the plus does to another level
Can't Wait! How was installation? I'm assuming the guys at HM did it but were you around for it? Did it look pretty simple?
Yes we did it for Dave but it is very simple we think, well as simple as we could make something like this. It connects like a Plus to the coils and to the crank sensor Does not take us much longer at all to install than the Plus
I'm sure Ben will confirm, but yes part of the existing loom plus can be used. Didn't fit mine, signed the NDA and had a blindfold put on!
Dave If it was removed tomorrow, would you spend your hard earned to replace it - had you used the regular (and still very good) HM Plus QS prior to the GP one?
Al- trust you to ask a question that revolves around a pound note! So, I'll be honest and say that's exactly one of the questions I asked HM- why the fook would a road user pay the extra? For whatever reasons I was without the GP for a period, I could tell you why but I'd have to shoot you (kinda joking dudes, but it's Al so let me!) my answers based upon my own situation and use of both the plus and gp- yes I would. To be clear, the plus was on this bike for circa 18 months/over 10k prior to the GP being fitted.
With it using the crank sensor can you still use a PCV with it ? As I seem to remember that plugging in there as well ? I may be wrong though !
I can't help but think that if Honda put all the trick bits on their bike as standard it would take away all the joy we get from getting excited about buying new toys to put on our bikes like this new bit of kit. Nice to see everyone excited and interested, modding is such fun
This will help. If you look at the downloads sections there is some gumpf in there that will help. The main one being the buying guide which I will attach here for easy viewing. The options are in place as many race teams use different means to connect items to the bike. Some want a connection between the control module and the sensor and others will not. Some want a certain type of connector added and some want a free end so we decided to add these options in from the start. When you look at the ordering guide you will see it all makes sense and more so, makes it very easy for us in the factory to build the shifter to each individual or teams spec. It will work with your current loom as these are the same. So if you have a Plus SH on your Blade and buy a GP Shifter, you will not need to add a loom as they are the same. I hope this guide helps. There is a nice brochure there also and a wiring diagram for those that want to look at that too as the wires to the crank and speed sensor need to be hard wired. Any questions please feel free to ask on here, email or even call
