Oxford heated sport grips on 2011 blade

Anyone fitted these on their blade ? Anything i should watch out for ?

 

If you haven't bought already I'd go for the Datatool version. Much slicker as it does not have the large ugly control unit. Also it has a sensor that monitors when the engine is not running and so switches off. This means less risk of flat batteries in the morning and no need for a separate switching circuit as you run straight off the battery.

I have had oxford heated grips on all my blades. On my 2012 blade I have the new oxford sports heated grips which now connect straight to the battery and include the new electronics that sense battery current so they do not need a separate ignition feed.

 

{recisely what i have had delivered. Did you have to trim the grip down ?

No, I did not cut grips down, they fit lovely!!

As said the latest one's have the low voltage electronics plus easier on the fly control than the Datatool one's which yes, do look neater but have had reports of the switch failing on some, probably down to it being new on the market etc

 

Not allowed heated grips where i live,they sell fingerless gloves up here

 

But perhaps not being worn tomorrow? Ha !

 

Nah got to be minus degrees before the gloves come out might have to put trousers and jumper on like

 

Where do you run the cables on a 2008~11 Fireblade?

 

No kidding but yesterday I saw a guy in Hawkinge riding his R1 wearing shorts and trainers and no gloves , he did at least have a jacket on

I was wearing more than that and I was driving the car

 

From each bar I ran them down to the headstock and combined them with the main cables that run under the tank cover. I made all the connection and left them on top of the tank underneath the cover then ran the feed back to the battery under the rh side of the tank back to the battery. Left no exposed cables. I placed the control panel mount on the left hand fork top pinch bolt. Managed to get it all nice n neat. Also had to trim a tiny amount off the throttle grip as it was ever so slightly catching the bar end. They work brilliantly well worth the effort.

 

Back to the Battery helps massively!

I fitted the datatool grips today, I must say they are bloody tight to go on but once they are on they are there to stay. Routing the wiring straight forward if you release the two dome heads nearest the head stock and pivot the tank up a bit, once they were all wired and panels put back on I tried them out and must say that I was impressed by their heat output and ease of use.

 

I got them, but if you install everything like it says in the installation manual, it will drain your battery.
I had the problem on three different bikes.
After I connected the power to the ignition cable (on / off), everything was fine.
They have to be complete off from the power when the bike is not running.
