I am having problems with my quickshifter. At low speeds it works ok but the minute you get high up the rev range it seems to be cutting the spark and missing .i use normal shift with the compression setting and have tried changing the sensitivity setting which made no difference . I had to switch to extension setting so I could still use the bike so clearly something to do with the hm quickshifter its only been on the bike about 18 months . Any ideas ?
Is it doing it without you touching the gear shift lever ? If so sounds like an error with either the sensor or control unit ? I'd contact HM direct, from what I have heard the stand by there product so they should help ? If not it would be a damn bad show
First make sure your boot is not fiddling with the peddle in a normal riding position, when you say cutting the ignition is this at random without shifting? Kill times for the upper rev range should be around 55ms, have you check the ignition loom is not shorting out on the rocker cover or frame? I'd check the connector too as I always put a small zip tie round them in case they come un clipped, HM have always helped in anyway they can and even if way out of warrantee they work with the customer to get them working again, sensors can be replace at minimal cost so don't feel you will have to buy a new one. Let me know how you get on with checking the insulation on the sub loom.
Will have a better look when the bike gets back from Spain. It was missing without me touching the gear shift as soon as you accelerated in each gear if I just kept the revs very low and went through the gears quickshifting it seemed ok . I am stripping all the fairings off anyway over winter so will have a good look and see if I can spot anything. Will contact HM if I can't see anything. Cheers
The sensor could be at fault, but keep in mind that if the loom shorts or is not connected the ignition will be cut, if the sensor is faulty it can be replaced last time they did one I think it cost around 50-70 quid, but they have unmatched support and will certainly test it for you free of charge I'd expect. Any problems or if I can help just ask
Spoke to Lee at HM QS he was very helpful and i have sent it back to them to test it, i tried a few tests myself including disconnecting the gear shift rod which made no difference and what it is also doing is when i had it on my ramp with the back wheel of the ground when you have it in gear and give it some high revs you can see the "shift signal " flicking up on the QS control unit which is the reason why i get the lunging of the bike as the spark is been cut. When i started to remove it and staighten all the wires out while still on the bike i tried it again and could not get it to fault again so maybe a damaged wire in the harness somewhere. Will see what HM say.
I had very good customer service from Gareth at HM when I first got my QS. Lee and the other guys are very nice to talk to and obviously very knowledgable about their products and possible changes to make things feel better.
Good to hear the feedback from your conversation with Leigh. He is very keen on providing the best level of customer support he can as we all are. As soon as its received and has been tested someone, likely me will be in contact. Like mentioned, we all take pride in giving the best aftercare we can so be rest assured the solution we offer will be the best we can give. Please continue to give feedback, whether good or bad as it will always help us to improve if needed and we are not perfect like no other business but we try damn hard to make sure we are as close to it as humanly possible
HM are great, got mine from ABM, great guy who works seven days a week too! He's also a blade genius!
Wouldn't buy another QS from anywhere else HM customer service brilliant I might stick the shifter in zx6r if possible with another loom and treat myself to the GP for the blade it is crimbo after all ha ha
Rare to find a company that stands by their product and goes above and beyond, no matter if you purchased it from them directly or from anywhere else, new or second hand! Yet to find someone to say a bad word against HM! Keep it up!
So after several calls with Lee about my problem with the QS they tested it and tested it and guess what it showed no faults .So they have fitted a new male plug on it and have sent it back I am hoping it was a loose/bad connection or something where the two looms connect .So will fit it back on the bike and see how it is . Just want to say how excellent Lee was as they didn't change me a penny and spent a fair bit of time and miles trying to find the fault .Its good to know that there a companies that do care even though my warranty had expired.
As always an above and beyond service from HM Quickshifters, when you get it back on a small zip tie helps to keep the clip locked on the sub loom connector
