    Hi all
Been reading the post on hid headlights, was wondering could I just change the bulbs for double filament bulbs and alter the wiring so I've, got both units running dipped or main beam bulbs .
    Thanks in advance Stu

I don't see why not, but you'll not only have to do a lot of re-wiring on the headlight unit, but also change the fitment for the new double filament bulb to a allow for high and low beam to operate on both sides.

I had another think about this and was wondering how would you get the high beam to actually throw a "high beam" light, all the reflectors are fixed inside the headlight, nothing will adjust when you flick the high beam switch, so other than maybe make it a little more intense, I doubt it will work.

The shape of the reflectors are different for dipped and main. They're also 'handed' for left or right side road driving. I suspect there'd be an MOT issue to address for running any lamp continuously on the main beam side.

The shapes are the same for both sides, it's the angle that's different. I know this cos I took the headlight apart when I fitted bi-xenon units in :)

There is a company (Dutch) I think which sells a box to allow you to run both lights at the same time. You dial in what % on the main beam you want on when on dipped lights, and then main beam works normally when you hit the switch. You can also set main beam to 0% at MOT time if it is a problem ;)

    Thanks Guys
Thought it would be a cheaper option than doing the hid option.

there was a post on here a while ago called dual headlights, where the guy had fitted a fitting he got from a german company which made both headlights come on, on dipped.
