After months, of thinking about it, going to use winter lay up, to finally get round to removing pillion pegs on the rr9.

Have read forum tips, but just want clarification, how much of the stuff from the inner tray needs to be removed, (i.e battery and all those other bits)

At least if I start it now, it gives me months to sort it out, just in case I make a complete F*** up.

Blimey you finally getting round to doing it! I just took the battery out and put some packing under it to support the rest, give yourself a good couple of hours and just take it easy.

Might be worth giving some of the bolts a squirt of Wd40 or plus gas the day before just in case, there is a handy hotbodies video on one of the other posts regarding pillion peg removals which is quite handy to follow

You don't need to remove any of that stuff (on the non-ABS model anyway). Just split the subframe - all other stuff can be left in place, although may need to be bent out of the way a bit.

I only took the battery out to reduce the weight of the tray while it was resting, but did spilt subframe like yourself

I have done it three times now once the first time battery tray out, a ball ache and pita, second and third tail unit off, split the sub frame.... Much easier and quicker :)

    All non ABS

Don't be put off by it, it's a lot easier than it seems, and splitting the subframe is the way to go.
