to be fair,Kevin (FE boss man) has very poor reputation, but most of that stems froma few yrs ago,he has now calmed daown a lot and has taken on board the power of the interweb and how much bad press they/he was getting.theres been a massive imnprovemnet over the last couple of yrs, thats not too say that people still get a few bad experiences, but it happens. they run very good euro events, and mainly run by steve plater these days.if you get chance, get out with him,or Neil hodgeson,it costs money but if you get a full day with them you can learn a lot.
also.a little tip for the 1st timers, when you get there, your bike+gear will be unloaded.forget about finding your bike etc,get your stands and your extension lead and go grab a plug point+spot near it.then go find your bike+gear. oh and dont forget your plug adapters,or better still the blue 3 pin style plug sockets (make an extension lead with 1 of these on the end)
I got back last night from my first euro 4 day FE track event in Almeria, had a great time. went with a friend, he had a Tuono and it was his 1st ever trackday. We both had a great time. really recommend one of these over a uk trackday, much more relaxed experience, especially if youre a novice like me.
Make sure you do your prep for what you need to take, the basics are chairs, stands and tyre warmers, you can wing it with tools from others if you don't want to take any.
do you think we had enough,do you really need tyre warmers, surely you generate enough heat without them.
It's not that hot out there, and the mornings are little chilli for the first session. Your tyres will definatly cool between your sessions, so without, you'll need to wait for a lap for them to get up to temperature.
I was always a tyre warmer doubter....... until I bought some......... plus with the fellas on race tyres they are def needed........
it's more to do with THE heat cycles, tyres going hot+cold 6 times a day will take away a lot of grip, plus your saving 2 laps a session by using warmers,in the uk equates to a session!!!
Im on the event just before this one (open pitlane) - so if you make it to the circuit on Wed Afternoon, would be good to say hi to some of you gaylords. I should still have some anal lube left over........ Hopefully my blade will still be in one piece!
I got them off a NIGHTMARE guy to be honest - took over 9 weeks to turn up! Delayed the build considerably. However, i found the fabricator is called something like Bikeplasti?? Art's got the URL somewhere... They are Eastern European (of course Apart from my HRC subframe woes, they fitted well - gellcoat is a bit cracked in places though - but........ they look the NUTS! Oh, and there is another one called Sebimoto (http://www.sebimoto.com/)
Good things come to those that wait!! They looked mustard mate. Thanks for the info. Ill take a butchers.
I suppose that's not a bad backup plan if I didn't pull..... and very generous of you to take so willingly!
