Hoping to get away with 2 mates in the summer for about 4 days. I'm open to suggestions on places. Would be happy to get to the ring in 1 day. 450-500 miles approx. But would be looking at 250-300 miles a day

Thinking Europe but Scotland is not out of the question. I was going to take my medium touring bag ion the back and not take camping gear just find Hotels as we go

So other than booking the Ferry or Chunnel I would be open to where we go and stay

    So Suggestions,

I did France, Andorra, Spain in 6 days back in 2011 so looking for something different.

Would Italy be to far for a 4 day trip? with the miles I would want to do

West coast scotland, wot u save in ferry going to Europe, u can stay in posh(er) hotels

The roads past Tyndrum ( Green Welly ) heading to Fort william, Splean Bridge, Iske of Skye n beyond are amazing and you would not think you were in the UK.

The ecenary is amazing yo n if you get the weather right you will not regret it.

Am going up meself n doing west coast next yr to but i have the luxury of booking time off at very dhort notice so can keep n eye on the weather n go for it :)

I would say to ride to Italy, see the Mugello GP, then ride home again. Lovely roads, great GP.

Scotland would be nice it's just the boring roads going up. 310 miles just to Dumfries and that's motorway

as for Mugello, 1088 miles door to door

The ring!! End of... Get sucked in mate. You'll be there in a day. Two days "mooching around" and you'll feel like you've been away for weeks lol

Scotland is incredible bit long boring way up... Unless your in the fireblokes convoy
    Lol

Did I say go to the ring?

Nah its all part of the adventure gerring oop to Scotland

Ive done Midlands to Kyle of Lochalsh in a day, around 550 miles, yes i was fooked but luckliy i had good quite digs for the night and fell asleep soundly after a fish supper :)

The 550 miles was done on - mixture of A roads n bit of motorway, A34 - Knutsford, ger on m6 to Preston to avoid Manchester, A6 to Carlisle, few short miles back on m6 to Gretna, A75 to Dumfries, A76 n short run on M77 to Glasgow, A82 to Fort William n Splean bridge where i turned off onto my fav road of all time, the A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh :)

And this was the sunset that evening overlooking isle of skye bridge n the cullin mountains

Really hard one to call, was lucky enough to tour Scotland and visit the ring this year. Both were awesome.

Personally, can't see it worth doing Italy if it's only four days you can do.

Normandy or the Belgian Ardennes. 4.5 hours riding, fabulous scenery and awesome roads. WW2 stuff as well.

    4 days ?

    The Ring absolutely no discussion.

Funnily enough I'm currently hitting Google maps trying to work out how I can fit the ring and the B500 into a 4 day trip via my misses parents in France !

First draft looks a bit like this at the moment

Most people reckon 200 miles a day is plenty. Of course if your joints are in much better shape than mine, most people's are, go for it!!!:D

My first trip to Normandy with Bike Normandy was for 3 days guided riding and great food, beer and accomodation. Best riding and roads I've ever done

Its easy to achieve big miles daily if you break it up:

    100 miles

Stop for fuel, food n drink, toilet stop, stretch the legs, take off some of the kit and have a walk about

    100 miles

Stop for fuel etc etc etc

    100 miles

Stop for fuel etc etc etc

And if u think ur on a tour when its spring / summer meaning longer days, its easily achievable

Just my opinion but alot of bikers ive seen on tour make basic errors, like when stopping fill themselves up with crap food sat in most of their kit in a cafe, y wud u wanna do that when u have sat on ur bike for 100 miles or so, ger up n walk round, eat healthier stuff n less food. Do ur bog breaks aswell so ur not stopping again for a while.

Did 1800 miles over a long weekend to Scotland but was hardcore and on my own for most of it so easier to achieve than if in groups.

I'd say 350 is about the limit if your avoiding motorways.

Scotland is great but one hell of a punt - 4 hours before you've even got to Manchester, then you can get on decent roads.

I've rolled on the tunnel at calais and been sat having dinner in an hour before - when you have so much so close to us for £40 and half hour tunnel ride it does make it hard to want to head north where the weather is less reliable (shite lol)....

Guess it all depends on where your from. If I lived up north I wouldn't bother coming south for a few days as your still a days ride the other side of tunnel before you hit the good roads IMO...

But still stand by my post - 4 days. The ring.

I'd even do it in 3 and have just one day there. It's that good!!!

Don't ask me, I am 51 and have a Ducati, if I manage to get to the next village without wrists and/or back hurting I am doing well.
