I thought i'd hang on until the NEC before buying some new tyres as Busters have PR3's on eBay for £219 delivered. So when I found the Busters stand at the NEC on Sunday I was surprised to be told that they are £229 on the stand, so upon asking if they have a show price I was then told that was the show price and that they had just downloaded the price list from their own website, what sort of a show price is that!!! And when I told them that they have them online @ £219 delivered I'm told, "You need to update your phone then as they have never been that price" (Bullshit). "ok, so will you knock off the equivalent cost of postage and I'll take them away now?" "No, 'cos we don't charge postage". Now I'm no fool, but postage is built into the price, so basically they want to rob me of the postage charge by not discounting it off the (higher) inclusive price??? So I've been told that I'm wrong about the price and that their (higher) website price is their show deal (we'll see about that!) So I get my iPhone out to prove my point in that they are overcharging on the stand in the hope that I can buy them at the lower price I know they have them online for, but just as I find it he decides that he's not interested and fecks off to another part of the stand. [rant mode on] The fecking ignorant, lying, overweight, tw@t!!![/rant mode off] Well Busters, for calling a customer a liar, advertising a price as a show deal which is more expensive than on your website, and telling me that you're not prepared to deduct the cost of postage as it's inclusive, you will never see the colour of my money. I hope you don't forget to turn your heating off at night again !!!
Here here Dude! If you had ended up buying them of him, I'd have probably gave you a slap. I can't stand people that take us for mugs
Good man, I was questioning myself for a moment as it made me question whether I was in the wrong for a moment, but thanks for the clarification.
I know where your coming from Muffking, I looked at the mega motorcycle store stand and they were charging £49 more than I paid a month ago at there sale in Swindon for my 1 piece leathers am glad I didn't wait!
I was disgusted with FWR tyres last week like you wanted 2 x PR3 I got an online price from thevisorshop.com who were including a show discount putting a pair 190/55 rear at £231 delivered, so thought I'd ring FWR for a comparison. I asked for a price they said £240 delivered so said very politely that I could get them for £231 from thevisorshop and the guy then went off on one said that they are about to go bust, and if I was a cheapskate to buy them off them ! When they have gone bust I can come back and pay the proper full price off them ! Then he hung up on me ! I'm amazed I got this reaction over £9, that I was called a cheapskate and the fact that whoever I spoke to would openly cast aspersions on another trading company's financial position to try and scare potential customers off. I obviously bought them from thevisorshop and the service was excellent, very disappointed in FWR as I have used them before and they were very good but will not use them again. I very rarely leave bad comments about anyone but this really wound me up, a simple sorry we can't match that would of been fine
No way I was goin to recommend them just now. Mayb not lol. Strange cause they are alright there and even remembered me a year later and what bike I rode. Mayb a bad day he was having , shame to hear its hard enough for bike shops
Well done for not buying them.I would have done the same too.Arrogance in a salesman will bite him in the arse. I can also see it from their end too.But it is their problem selling tyres to undercut the next man.Selling things cheap on ebay etc devalues the product and all this work for peanuts IMO. I get this quite alot with my shop too. "I can get it on Ebay cheaper delivered". It used to annoy me but it doesnt anymore. I have now got a policy for my customers,if they buy from me regularly I will look after them, sometimes even when they are not expecting it.And beat ebay prices too if profitable. The others can carry on buying off Ebay and when they have a problem I dont entertain it anymore. Some friends wait 48hrs to save £2 I have a customer Scuffsandchipspro who buys paint from me mainly Repsol orange pb123m decants it & sells it on ebay.He still runs around making peanuts in that garage of his thats fine by me.
Chasing a deal can sometimes cost more. Tyres have manufacturing dates on them, they are sometimes cheaper for a reason and like anything the costs to suppliers can change daily, which means this is often passed onto the consumer. Factor in the costs of running a stand at the NEC on their margin.......... Not saying that it's right to be rude to anyone, being at trader at the NEC and in life generally means to have to entertain haggling- But, the price is the price and it's our choice to pay it or not. Had a mate years ago that was/is a market trader, he sold pet foods and products. I popped in to see him one day as I was passing. Whilst there I noticed a sign that read "£1.50 each or 3 for £5" on his Christmas dog stockings. I laughed as person after person came up and asked for the 3 for a fiver deal. He explained to me 90% of what he'd sold was on his "deal", I said your taking the piss at which he said that's the price that's advertised. If they weren’t so intent in chasing a deal they would realise they are paying more. They leave me happy as they think they have a deal, what's the problem?
DT is the place I will go first for a price. as I said before I have paid less from Andy at DT then Ebay etc... As for that price and "the customer is always right" seems busters has list a few customers from this event
The issue here is not price at all. It's attitude. If the company has a valid reason for selling the items at a price above what is listed on their site, they may have a very good reason for it. They should then communicate that reason politely and leave it to us the customer to decide what we do. Being rude is the issue. I am a sales person, but would never think of behaving in that manner to a customer. Sure I might thijnk a few things in my head, but being rude to a potential customer is no way to win business. Even if you disagree strongly with the customer there are polite ways of finishing a conversation without insulting someone. I myself always buy tyres from my local supplier, because it's a ride in, ride out service and I get a cup of tea and a natter while I wait. My mates buy the tyres off ebay, spend a morning taking their wheels out and an afternoon taking them to the shop (where they get ripped off for tyre fitting because they didn't buy the tyres off the fitters) and putting them back on. They probably save £10-£20 max. My point is, where there is good customer service, I don't mind spending a little extra. I like a bargain as much as the next man, but there are sometimes (not always) hidden value in dealing with a good supplier. I will never go to anyone who is rude and shows contempt for a customer a second time. I'd rather pay more somewhere else. Incidently, most of the traders I dealt with at the show were very professional
Totally agree, that was the main issue. To that end, it was more that I was rudely told that i had made the mistake and to update the phone where i had supposedly found the lower price.
