Honda ain't behind, the problem is people want gimmicks, they could go fast on a raw bike but they need the seed planting that TC and ABS will save them, then they go faster! Mate if you've an itch to scratch then do it, like you say life to short! it can be shorter if you crash I know! The BM is a great bike, and if you join the B! forum they will tell you it's 200bhp too . Get some BM in yer shed, three month ago you could have brought mine but she's gone, it had goldbet plastics too!
If the bm is an ugly bike , why did you buy one BFB ? My itch is there and the bm will be with me soon , 200 bhp hmmm right Oh and I don't intend on crashing .
So much hype mate, it's a great bike mate just not quite as great as it's made out to be, get one chap you won't be disappointed.
When you look at a bike like the BM for example what year of World super bikes would this be on par with ( power wise) ?
Don't think anyones having a dig at anyone buying a bmw bike, its your cash you buy what ya like, even go down market and buy a bloody Suzuki ( sorry givover ) see if i bloody care All peeps are saying is that its not their cup of tea looks wise, some people find big fat women sexy, me personally i don't!! None of us are Marquez, so none of us are gonna reach the limits or ride any litre bike to 100% of its capability, we ride the bikes for several reasons, what we r used to by being previous owners of said model, how much it costs to buy & run, wether or not we want all the latest gadgets like tc and power modes, looks of the bike n wether or not we fancy summat different. So enjoy ur new machine, just dont expect to be let back into the Fireblade brotherhood without eating humble pie first
And yet I somehow have managed to keep in the club .I wonder if they think its a blue and white Fireblade .
Guys let’s face it! I still like my Fireblade but: Honda is far behind, if you compare it with the S1000RR or ZX10R, for example. No doubt, the Fireblade once was a top bike, like the Suzuki GSX1000 was as well, but long long time ago. Since 2008 almost nothing is done except the ABS and some minor changes. The Fireblade it’s like to own the best mobile phone and the S1000RR is like to own the best smart phone. Most of what people call “gimmicks”, like DTC, DDC, Race ABS, lean Angle sensor, anti Wheelie sensor etc. are not “gimmicks” at all for a street rider and I assume, that 90% of us are only riding on UK streets and motorways and not on a race track. I have ridden a lot of bikes, including the S1000RR and ZX10R and those bikes are the future. Nobody is complaining about the Panigale, everybody likes it with all the “gimmicks” and the bike is not near as good as the HP4. Barny1 did say it all ( tread # 17 ) and at the moment I wouldn’t buy a Fireblade myself after I had a test ride with the ZX10R - including the OHLINS Mechatronic Electronic Active Shock -( 2013 ) and S1000RR ( 2013 ). And if a BMW or Kawasaki sales person would ask me “anything else you don’t need” my answer would be “I don’t need it, but I want it”!
Plenty of people moan about the 1199! The Ducati is another matter as it's faults are accepted by the Ducatisti. Let me explain why I say gimmicks, half the riders do not understand them, they never use them or know when they are being used, they never change them, they are never happy with the setting if they do know them, the setting interferes with the speed of the bike, in other worlds they are intrusive. My S1 was heated time and time again off the line by my mates K6 GSXR1000!! Why, rider aids! Turn them off and you can't ride it. Own one, race one, track one, you'll soon see why the Blade is so good.
BM's are notorious for getting off the line, and it's nowt to do with rider aides. As for turning them off and not being able to ride it,i didn't have that problem, the ABS on my bike is all disconnected, the TC is ijn slick mode, which is (on track at least) the better setting, allows front wheel lift, rear tyre slip/spin and full throttle openings,as long as your not over 53 deg lean .
I like the look of the BMW but I think the Blade is a bit better bike. The Blade is forgiving and I know as my mate had a BMW that it is NOT a forgiving bike. Yes the Blade is down on power but it still has more than enough usuable power for the roads and trackdays (Unless your Marquez). Remember we are all allowed our own opinions and this is mine lol Would I have a BMW? ffs yes or course I would! I just love my 2011 Blade thats all, it still makes me smile everytime I go out on it until then I will just keep riding.
I personally do not think the Blade is 'behind the times' as such. I think Honda have decided on a different strategy than some of the competition. It does not come fitted with all the gizmos, but that does not equate to 'behind the times' IMO. It has a superb engine, gearbox and chassis and Honda have a proven history of quality and reliability. There have always been some bikes that are faster than the Blade, that is nothing new and I think most Blade owners knew that when they bought one. I do not think Honda are stupid, I am pretty sure they have some sound reasons for their current strategy and their avoidance, at the moment for not adding the gizmos. I think all that matters is that people should buy the bike they want, it is their money and their life and they should do as they please. It does not really matter what others think. I think what raises heckles most is people telling other people their bikes are better. What is best is very subjective in pretty much every aspect. I have chosen all my previous bikes for a variety of reasons, sometimes purely because I wanted a change, sometimes just because I could. Each one had it.s plus points and it's negatives, my Blade is no different and neither would any other bike be.
Well said Exfire I ve just bought a Gixer just for a change hopefully she will be a great bike not everybodys cup of tea admittedly but I do like the look of them.
Loved mine Dave, had three, two 750's and a thou. Great bikes, had a Black one and two blue and whites. Love the sound, the handling and the looks. The 750 is really more than enough for the roads but I loved the extra poke of the thou. Changed women far more many times.........but then that's another story. Nice to just ride something different now and again
