    BBC News - DJ and TV presenter Jimmy Savile dies, aged 84

    Very, very sad :(

    I remember being glued to Jim'll Fix It when I was a youngster. He's been a campaigner on behalf of many charities and I'm sure he'll be missed by many whose lives have been enriched and touched by him.

    RIP Sir Jimmy.

    I always think that a lot of these stars have an industrial shed-load of skeletons in their collective closets. Appetites + egos + sycophants + money + too much time on their hands = A very dangerous recipe.

    It's one of the reasons that I don't really watch much telly. It's all shiny veneer and bullsh*t. And adverts........lots and lots of adverts for things you don't need.

    I saw on the front of the paper today,

    "Savile victims could claim millions in compensation"

    Call me cynical but I instantly thought, "and there we finally find the crux of why so many have suddenly found their voices after all this time"

    It's sweet of you to say but I'd hate people to think that the great tradition of English eccentrics were kiddie fiddlers. Not after we worked so hard to get rid of the catholics to start with.

    His shirts would scare off most kids I know before he got too close. And there's no way he could creep up on them.
