What sort of stuff do we all go for then?

What's your standard Xmas Eve / Day / Boxing day routine??

    Mine's almost always the same.

It's a mate's birthday on xmas eve so all of my mates and their other halves come out for a drink. On account of it being the day before xmas / most people's knock off work day everyone's in a great mood and normally ends up rat-arsed. The last 10 years have seen me stumbling home at 1:30 in the morning on Christmas day with a kebab

Christmas day invariably starts with a fairly significant hangover which doesn't disappear until I have a pre-dinner drink :D

The Great Escape HAS to be watched at some point on the day itself. After all what's more Christmassy than watching POWs escape from the Luftwaffe?

I get enjoyment from seeing the kids open their presents. the smell of the Christmas tree (And beer) and that we are picking up our dog on the 28th.

I have Christmas day off this year, Other than that I will be working boxing day, new years eve and Day . Christmas eve etc... so every day is rather similar

Christmas shopping on christmas eve morning. I follow that up with meeting family and friends in the pub for the afternoon.
Back home in the evening and try and watch a film with my son (usually through one eye as I'm pissed from the pub) and then to bed.

Christmas morning it's down to open all the pressies and eat chocs and probably a glass of bubbly. After that I go to my sisters for dinner and the afternoon, before dropping my boy of at his mums in the evening and I then go round friends and catch up with the merriment and drinking

One of my favourite things about Christmas that too :)

Sounds like you've got your bloody work cut out for the rest of it though!

I usually finish half way through the day on Christmas Eve and unless there's no believable excuse for me to get out of it, end up going to the pub with my boss. One drink is never enough, so that's usually it until tea time. Christmas Eve evening can go either way. Telly and booze or out visiting. Rarely get people come to us, I find...

This year though. He's given me Christmas Eve off! In fact, he gave me the Monday off too, adding four days to my winter leave, out of the kindness of his heart...

Then, a couple of weeks later, he decided he wanted me in on the Monday after all, so we could both sit and will the phones to ring for 9 hours, so now I have to drag my vengeful arse in, after all.

Christmas day is too routine, really. See J's family during the day and mine during the evening. Christmas lunch with the outlaws is almost always just the job for holding the pillow over the face of whatever is left of my Christmas spirit. By about 11:00pm, I'm looking around the house thinking 'this is supposed to be a day off and I'll be spending the next hour tidying up'.

Boxing day, I'll be on tenterhooks that the phone will ring followed by the ubiquitous 'What are you up to, today.'

This year I'm not back to work until the 2nd and left to my own devices with an xBox, the telly remote and enough Guinness, I can be sorted for the entire period. J, however, is like a shark. If she stops moving, she dies, or, more accurately, if she's not moving she makes my life a misery whining how bored she is, so, I shall be out and about doing stuff I don't want to and Jeanette won't enjoy, because I don't want to.

On new year's eve I have been nagged into going to a party in the village. A Scotsman's party......I loathe new year's eve.

Then, back to work on the 2nd. More joy!

At least this year I'm not visiting my Brother's family. They're premium grade Christianity enthusiasts. Normally when I drive the 275 miles down to see them they go to church every couple of hours leaving me alone in the house.

One year they had his MIL staying to so I was relegated to sleeping in the caravan on the drive in sub-zero temperatures

Makes me appreciate the time I get off. Everyone's whinging this year because the way Christmas falls we're only off for 8 days. Last year it was nearly 12.

I was always, always a huge lover of Christmas, the whole nine yards, but I just can't be arsed anymore.

I just don't get my own way enough and I can only be reasonable for so long.

Plus, on the Saturday night leading up is the final of strictly come fecking dancing, which I will have to suffer at my riding buddy's house while he, his missus and mine ooh and ahh through the entire shit gripping event.

This made me piss. Can't you hit the drinks cabinet in another room and watch racing highlights of the year or something?

We don't really bother with it. It's only me the misses and dog so we shall go see the in-laws for dinner then back home. Best part is 2 weeks off work, roll on.

Grab our passports, shut the door behind us, and come back when it's all over. Both sides of our families are either living overseas or just a pain in the arse. My ex always makes sure she has Christmas sewn up for the kids to my exclusion so we are best off out of it. Besides wall to wall lackeys bringing me food and drink for a few days is much more appealing, the only thing missing and would make Christmas perfect would be if my kids could come with us.

Oh and Honda Fireblades are the best motorcycles in the whole wide world (apparently)

It's become such a tradition now that my mate saves me a pile of MCNs for when the programme is on. Not that it takes more than a couple pages to wipe even my flabby arse.

It is, of course, a tradition based on the three of them declaring what fun the whole process is, despite the insistent voice in the wilderness yelling 'No! It's shite!'.

History is always written by the victors...
