Hoping not one minds me posting this A little back ground info: Built the Tiger Supercat between 2003-04. only ever done a few minor changes over the years and always had a aeroscreen fitted which has been fun. But going long weekend away and Tour and going to le mans I've wanted to fit a screen ( save having to take a lid all the time) and fit a larger fuel tank. So screen and side screens have been bought. less wind buffeting and no need for a helmet. just a beenie. I got recommendations from people on the best place to get a custom fuel tank fitted and went to this place Pro Alloy Motorsport - The UK's Number One for Alloy Racing Tanks it's taken a good few weeks to get sizes and find out just want I want. the current tank holds 28ltrs of fuel and with a car running a 2Ltr blacktop Zetec and twin 45's it's range is 120-150 until fill up. at 120 miles you start looking for the next fuel station. And the Tier fuel sender is not 100% so always a worry how much you have left in the last 1/4 tank So the result is 60ltr tank or expected range of 250-300 miles. Much better Also the tank will be full foam baffled. internal collector and a outlet which means we can go throttle bodies in the future with no need to change anything on the tank it will have a aero filler cap and drip tray made into a inspection hole to clean or remove the foam if needed like this Cost is going to be around £600 and as mate is having the same done after talking to him so saving another £100 for the 2 to be made I'm also going to spray the rear of the body work as I have fiber glassed the old fuel cap area of the back of the car. I bought but never fitted carbon cycle wings which are also going on I will add pics from my phone shortly to show you how the mods are going.
very nice indeed, are those escort cossy wheels? Been looking at proalloy tanks in case I need one for my project.. Wonder how much a smaller bike type tank would cost.. hmm
After lots of looking pro alloy came out best and the help I have had from Alex has been great. Yes Escort Cosworth alloys I bought back in 2003 for the car. they are going for a referb next year and going a carbon gray type colour. Gunmetal possibly
Real Carbon with Glass fiber back to ensure they don't crack and the only set Tiger I think did for the Supercat
Nice... I've always fancied building a car, and its #1 on the list of retirement time-fillers. What do you use it for?
Had done a few trackdays with it, Le Mans every other year. And just a Weekend toy with a difference when I don't fancy suiting up and going quick on the blade
Its good to see there are other "petrol heads" on here who get kicks from both bikes & cars. I get a buzz from just about anything with an engine.. even had a go at racing lawnmowers once! Looks like a nice car does she handle well? The zetec is a pretty sweet engine for any 7 type car. Have you got an LSD? I used to have a Westfield, did a fair few track days & hill climbs in in. I now have a MK1 Eunos with lots of mods, all to the chassis at the moment so she handles very sweetly, but I've just got a turbo for it so threes allot of work to do this winter now getting it ready for the tracks next spring. I'm hoping for just over 200hp. Ozz
Christ is seems you enjoy anything with a engine as I also do. many on here are true petrol heads as well. others not so yes I have a XR4i LSD in the tiger which is great fun ion track or doing Doughnuts when you feel like it and its safe and on private road. Engines just a bog standard 2Ltr with no mods and kicking out 145BHJP at the rear wheels just running a Omex ignition ecu AND TWIN 45'S. We replaced a 1.8 silvertop Zetec which was stripped down, ARP bolts all round, skimmed head, uprated cams etc.. and only made 134BHP. So engine mods will happen at some point. But the New screen, tank and bodywork refresh is costing a bit . next in line is the wheels to get painted/powercoated. then maybe bigger cams. and TB's in 2014-15
There's just too much to like about cars & bikes, why chose between them just have both!! Sounds nice the LSD is a must in something like this I didn't have one in my Westfield when I first got it. 145HP is plenty in something as light as the tiger. I love the sound of the 45's coughing and poping I had them on my westie too. The Eunos was brought as a cheap trackday toy but is currently evolving at quite a rate.. I'll have to get a few pic's of the Mazda when I get her on the ramps to start fitting the turbo.. good to chat to a fellow petrol head Ozz
Been quiet over the festive period but been working on the body work prep with filling etc to get it ready to primer. Where needed and paint a
