This is going to be a bit long winded but stick with me.

Having been away on business for the last couple of days it has given me a bit of space away from the forum to reflect on what happened earlier in the week, and quite frankly I am very disappointed in the actions of a few members, me included. Yes, I will put my hand up and say I am partly to blame. Things have been escalating and getting personal, the knock at me to be quite honest is like water off a ducks back given the overall situation. I am more concerned about the general feeling of the forum.

I have read through the whole of the threads regarding this including the attempts to calm the situation, and it still seems to be rolling on.

Do I genuinely believe that there has been a general knocking of the Fireblade: No I don’t.

Do I believe there has been a bit of “if you no longer own a Fireblade you shouldn’t be allowed to hang around: Yes I do.

Do I stand by what I have said? Yes and I am not backing down from my position, but I could have used a bit more sensitively to make my point, but we are men (mostly, so no offence meant to the female members) and we tend to shoot first and ask questions afterwards. Ask your other half’s and I would guess they agree, I asked and my point was confirmed.

So, come on guys (we know who we are) let’s all shake hands and move on in a positive way. We all share the love of the same thing, Motorcycles. We might have different makes and models but they are all motorcycles at the end of the day and we get enough persecution from the rest of the world without turning in on our own.

If anyone has a personal issue with me, I am absolutely fine with that, let’s take it outside. PM me and we will have a private discussion to try and resolve the issue and if we can’t so be it.

I have been a member for quite a while and don’t want to leave but if the situation does not resolve its self quickly I will walk away whistling dixie as it’s no longer a place I want to be associated, or waste my time with.
So I am asking all concerned to grow a pair and smile, shake hands and put by gones be by gones for the overall wellbeing of what is a fantastic forum.

So, back to the title, I want and am willing to give up my weapons in the spirit of what this forum is known for: openness, friendliness, and not being anything like the Ducati Forum.

I look forward us to closing once and for all this stupid and futile issue and everything getting back to normal, with or without me.

With best intention: Freedom of Choice.

It shows what we have here is sometimes far better than elsewhere, I joined a couple of years ago initially to help out with some required bits but have joined in and made light hearted comments with many posts and hundreds of subjects plus briefly meeting some of the hard core members ...........but if I ever changed bikes (what is better ;) than a blade though) I would still use this site until I'm told by a majority clan that I cant........and if that ever happens this site surely wont be worth logging into will it ?

I joined this forum when I bought my Blade 20 months ago and have found it a very friendly forum. We all joined because we own, have owned, want to own or just plain old like the Fireblade - end off.

There is no doubt in any of our minds that the CBR1000RR is an excellent bike but many of us have felt the need to move to different bikes which is causing a lot of the friction. We all have different views on this.

The guys who have bought other bikes have stuck with the forum because of the friendly atmosphere, lack of total knobbers, the 'banter without taking it to heart' nature of the forum and meeting the guys for a blast.

    My personal opinion is:

The latest incarnations of the Fireblade hasn't kept up with many of the other models but this doesn't stop us loving our bikes or make it in anyway a bad bike.
If you can't take the banter; well deal with it and get a thicker skin.
Don't care what you ride, bring your opinions forward.
Everyone I've met in person off the forum I've liked (even Remal who I met for lunch on Wednesday)
Are you going to get upset with guys who own several bikes just because they aren't all Fireblades?

    My overarching point is:

Do not turn this forum into the way many of the others are where you have a fear that you can't have a laugh and put your point across honestly and with tongue in cheek without someone getting upset. We ultimately all have a love of sport motorbikes and love riding.

I'd hate to lose members such as Barney who turned up ONLY to take photos of me on my first ever track day, Raphael who sold me my harris brake levers then later GAVE me a screen and other odds and sods - just because they now don't own Hondas anymore.

I don't post very often, even when I had my 10 blade but I do enjoy reading peoples posts. I've met some great people on here and dealt with others over parts who I've never met yet trusted with cash, postage etc.
I own a few bikes, I admit I'm stuck in the 90's with most of my bikes, over the years I've ridden many makes and models of modern super bikes, and I the idea of the bike controlling my riding ( traction control etc ) even if it is safer fills me with dread, I ride bikes due to the freedom they give, I can ride reasonably quickly when I want, but in the same breath I love to look at the view, smell the air, feel the temperature hot or cold. The Fireblade allows me to do all of these things in style,
comfort ( well nearly ) speed and grace.
So back to the point yes we have different opinions, I just wish they where aired and not shoved down my throat !!
As previously said come on folks it's Christmas !! Good will to all men etc
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to everyone on 1000rr.co.uk by far the best forum regardless of the bike/ bikes we own.

life is to short and it's only a forum. But a forum I have met lots of nice people.
Yes even including Andy who I met on Wednesday
But he does have a funny accent
sounds like he could talk like this

    I digress

I know people won't get on. But I hope people can just get on. enjoy the forum for what it is. a place to get info, talk to mates, ask stuff and have a good read.

I for 1 am looking forward to meeting others from here in 2014

I just put it all down to cabin fever syndrome! All of us are itching to get out on the bikes but due to weather and all the crap on the roads we can't so people take it out on others

Yeah on this subject, maybe its best if you do suffer the cabin fever! If you buck the trend like me and ride all year...well Im saying nothing that my Youtube can't! lol

On a related point, I joined this forum for Fireblade info, chat, and tips but I don't give a deck what bike you ride, its all good.
If you meet a buddy/stranger on a ride out you don't choose to not ride cos they aint got a blade :)

ive been on a few forums in the past and have seen similar things happening. this is now the only bike forum i use and by far the best that i,ve used so lets hope things continue as they used to be. i,ve only met 1 member in the couple years i been here but thats more down too a hectic family life and almost as far southwest as you can get. hope to meet more in the near future!
