    Coffee table!!

    Sheesh!!

I'd be hanging that on the parliament hallway, with the header 'Proud to be British'
About the only way British engineering would get recognised. When some MP bashed his head with it.

About 3 months worth of development/testing.
Machining wise about 3 weeks worth minimum.

To ask you to CNC a couple of ferrules for a mere CBR would be kinda embarrassing really

I do have one serious question though, at ultra high temps titanium tends to flare, that component, is it part of the combustion chamber or intake section ??

That is part of the intake. That is the centre piece that you see when looking at the front of a jet engine, that holds the fan blades.

There are ways and means of disipating the heat within the engine that I can't go into too much detail, but even in the hottest areas of the engine titanium is the main material used.

Industrial and national secrets and all that jazz, I understand having signed one of those documents ;)
From the angle of the photo it was a little hard to see, but yes I can see what you mean about intake
Must be quite the CNC machine for a component that size

Some of the CNC's of today are huge mate. Easily the size of a large house and more.

I've added a pic to the other post showing the front of a jet engine with the blades attached to that piece.
Probably works out at around 15ft diameter once the blades are fitted.

Believe it or not, that black cone piece you see on the front of the engine is made of rubber and is probably one of the most important parts of the whole engine.
