I'm taking my 12 year old son touring next year and want to get him a good quality, safe helmet for the trip. Needs to have facility for a pinlock. He will need a size 52, which not all manfacturers seem to do. Shoei do that size on one of their helmets but not the others !

    Any reccomendations please?

as for the lid size I have no idea mate, never bought one. Worth emailing a for letters off to a few good manufactures?

Personally I'd suggest the same would apply to buying a lid for yourself.

Take your lad to a shop and get him to try lids on. My view is the most expensive lid in the world ain't worth toffee if it doesn't fit right.

My advice get the Shoe Helmet. I have rather strong views on this to the extent of writing this Proecious Pillions - A Dad's View

If you need a set of Textiles PM me as I've got a set here that Ben has just grown out of.

Thanks ! Excellent blog . My lad has been riding wiht me since he was seven and loves it. I now consider him as a safe risk for a good 4 or 5 day trip to Europe. He is very excited !! We are hoping to go during Easter Half Term. He has good kit that fits him at present but he is growing fast, so by all means PM me the details of your textiles!

I will of course take him to a shop to try on. I just need to narrow the field as far as brands are concerned.

No Remal, I sold the Atom a while back. Much more into the bikes these days and they are a lot cheaper than the supercars !

At the time that I had it, my Atom was the most powerful one in the country with 335 BHP. It was a bit of a handful on wet roads !!

Yes, Helmet City do seem to be very good on price and selection.

    Morning,

I wish that I could help you but the only children's helmets that we do are the motor cross style helmets which probably wouldn't be of much use to you. Can provide a price if you wish though.

    All the best

Thanks Andy. I think I may be looking at one of the Shoei helmets in XXS (51-52cm). I imagine you could find one of those at the right price for me !!

Try and get a Multi-tech flip from if you can. Ben loves his. He used to have the XR1000 but as soon as he tried my mulitech I could not get it back off him. Its so much more useable. Especially when he decides to throw up after too much scran or should that just read Chocolate and Lake District twisties do not mix LOL

I'm sure we can sort something out for you. I have put a link below to our website showing the Shoei helmets that we do in XXS. If you know of a helmet that is not listed there but they do it in XXS then please let me know and I shall look in to it for you.

    Hope this helps

    All the best

    Andy

Thanks Andy. That link seems to show all the helmets that you sell! Do you keep size 51-52 in stock? I think I will have to bring my lad up for a fitting session.

I have the Quest in in XS and S so these could give us an idea on size, I would have to order the XXS in though if it turned out that he needs that size
