OK Just off my head. looking at the wheelie thread. thought popped into my heads. TOP SPEED DAY!!! I'm not thinking of sorting this just getting feedback :yo: Thinking a 1000rr.co.uk day meet, summer, Airfield. Mid England so hopefully middle for many on here. But not all. Day to just max out a bike, Anyone done this? Anyone know of places/airfields that allow this? OK corners are more fuin but getting 180+ out of the blade got to be a buzz thoughts?????
And she was fit, BUT would people think this would be a good day out? And could we book something like this. I've only seen Santa pod and bike mags to top speed runs
This place is aimed at cars but it shows you which airfields are running open days if there were enough numbers/cash i'm sure it could be booked. Oww done 6+ with Motorsport events in the kit car and Know Ed who runs this well good shout May be worth if we are interested get more into. Maybe worth contacting a bike mag and asking how they do it. then book something. and invite said bike mag along for the day?
when i had my zx12 i went to raf woodbridge near ipswich that they used for sprints and flyers. lots of good results and speeds from the zx12 and busa boys but can get very boring after a few hours and think with the blade a track daya better option (for me anyway). not sure if they still use it as no longer in the know on that forum.
RAF Odiham main runway is a kilometer long. Dunno what slowR1rider and zeepony managed on theirs, but I got a genuine 150 on reduced gearing on my grotty RRW fighter. £20 a year to join Odiham MCC, £60 to do trackday??? Odiham is near Farnham on M3.
And they ran another day just for speed runs/ quarter mile times etc back in July i think it was. I think that day there were also cars running the airfield as well
May or June I think Si. Not very popular with the riders, but if we said we were deffo going , they might run it again???
TBH mate i couldnt think of anything more boring lol...........when they run the longer track on a normal bike trackday its easy to max the bike out and then give your brakes some shit as well

No one has done 200 or anywhere near on any stock bike, theirs a fella running turbo busa's with £1000's spent on them tgat ain't getting them speeds, they do straight line time trials. The record in this country is about 176 on a GSXR 1000, the clocks on our bikes are massively out, if your clocks reading 170-180 I bet your at more like a true 150-160.
Can do a Run Wot Ya Brung with Streetfighters at North Weald. Terminal speed at end of quarter mile indicates horsepower, if the bike is revving out ?
