Hi everyone need some advice please. Went to look at a blade today registered march 2010 but looked at the logbook and shown as an rr8 which did put me off a bit.

What were the changes in the blade rr8 to present please and any issues with the rr8 I should be weary of?

Also what would be considered a fair price, its done 6k miles fsh and 1 owner from new

    Thanks in advance

I think the only difference is something to do with the fly wheel. Different size or weight or something ?

A deffinate change is the licence plate holder from fixed to detachable for track use and the tail light from red to clear.

I dont think there is much in them to be honest, just a few slight changes.

Dependant on the price i wouldnt be put of by it being an RR8

Iv seen some awsome deals on ex demo bikes.

The dealer i purchased mine from 3 weeks ago offered me theyr ex demo

2010 black/white RR-A with 1600 miles on it for £6995.00 but they could not offer the 0% finance . It is still there if you want a contact number?

I guess if your paying in full there is some real bargains to be had, but then 0% on a new blade was working out 3 grand cheaper than an R1 , GSXR etc

Also on Ebay now there is Unregistered 2010 models for 9500 from dealers as stock clearence

Agree with above, i don't think the changes were great, i had thought (incorrectly) that the later blades may have had some internal modifications made to the pistons etc to try and sort out the oil issue with some of them, but i don't think this is the case. Value wise, not too sure, but there are some on Bike trader going for a song, some of them are cheaper than the older RR7's.

The one I have put a small deposit on is HM Plant scheme with pazzo levers, yoshi carbon exhaust, r and g engine casings and crash bungs. Also r and g tail tidy and carbon rear hugger. It also has a gear indicator as well as aftermarket rearsets

Well - i have had both rr9 (same as 08) and rr10 and rr11! (bloody bike thieves!)
I have to say there is a noticeable difference between the 09 an 10. Its minor but it does feel like the 10 picks up quicker and has a bit more lowdown grunt. Its not really worth loosing any sleep over, but IMO there is a difference.

What colour is the engine? If its gold, its def an 08, if its black i think thats had the crank mod..

    I'd say £6.5k is a good deal for a mint 08 on 6k miles.

The bike was supplied by Bournemouth Honda and i am about to pay £7800 (from an Aprilia dealer) for it. As for not paying anymore than £6500 for it i have seen very few blades for less than £6500 without any mods on them at all.

TBH the only thing that is still making me doubt this bike is that it is an RR8, but then i think well the only dif is the colour scheme and the flywheel

Yeah cheap and nasty private sales. If its tiptop and you like then get in there before someone else does. At leaset you get a warrenty with the dealer and ALSO its registerd in 2010 so you still get some Honda warrenty aswell, till March 2012..

Actually going over it im impressed. im spending loads on upgrade s on mine and your bike will be aleady done.. Happy days

Aprilia have all the Goodies on as standard . Riders i know who have them say that they take a bit of getting used too but then they are amazing bikes

Give all the bearings a good going over etc Mu mate bought an 07 with 11k on the clock and the head bearing was shot, only the top race thou due to wheelys probably

The only concern that I would have with the RR8 is oil consumption.
This was apparently a problem with all RR8 Blades.
That problem was allegedly resolved by Honda for the RR9 & RRA (2010) models.
If it was me personally I would go for the 2010 (RRA) demo model for £6999, what a bargain.
I paid £8999 for a brand new 2010 blade at the start of last month (interest free for 3 years).

It was, as the dealer I bought the bike from had all of the 2010 colours in stock, so I had the choice of any of the colour schemes.

As most dealers who have discounted 2010 stock only have one colour scheme left.

Otherwise I would have bought a new 2011 REPSOL for £10,000 or £11,200 with Akrapovic slip on race can, ASV levers, seat cowl, high screen, Gilles rearsets inlcuding fitting!!

Yeah i could of had an RR-B for 10k but the black was all back so i went for an unregistered RR-A with silver frame and gold wheels+forks etc.. As no change from RRA to RRB i went for it.

Interesting. I thought the original model spun up quicker and they modded later ones with a heavier flywheel?

well i am going down with the money to buy the bike on Friday however i am going to give it one more look over before handing the cash over. Cant see that there will be anything wrong with it as its still got 11 months Honda warranty on it just need to recheck the paintwork, was told its a dream machine jobbie from new. Anyone know if its dream machine that do the HM Plant replicas for Farnham Honda?
