i was looking at mk1 and 2 escorts on ebay and am amazed how much they are selling for these days . i must have had at least 10 escorts myself including rs2000 s etc ,and it got me thinking .. what have you had in the past that you wish you had had the foresight to put away to one side as a future investment ?
my first blade and only mk1 escort, ive had a look at them in the past year too but just couldn't pay what peaple have been asking for them, a friend of mine just bought an rs2000 and after driving it home thought it was best left as a memory
mk2 RS2000 white with black vinyl roof, orange Mexico, silver 1600 Sport and one of these that fetch silly money these days. BMW E30 M3 Evo2 by (MrB), on Flickr None as fun as bikes though.
i think now might be the time to buy an escort cosworth, classic insurance is available and i have seen them as low as £10,000 . i reckon if i bought one now it might do better than having the money sat in the bank at 1%, it would certainly be a lot more fun.
998cc mini cooper mkI aaaaaaaaaaaaand lambretta sx200 There..Ive said it! All credibility now toast (don't laugh....it was pretty frisky in it's day ) bored out to 225cc.... Girlies just luuuuuuved that backrest
Wish I had kept my first few cars and bikes; My first car was a Mk2 Escort 1600 Sport with a 1750 Fast road engine installed. Pure Q car as it looked standard apart from a 1" drop all round My second car was a Mk2 1600 (Pinto) Mexico never managed to get round to installing a 2.1 pinto before I sold it My first bike which was an AR50 firstly with a 80cc head and barrell fitted then when I got bored of that, I fitted a 93cc big bore kit. The FSIE boys hated that bike as it blew them away My second bike (years later) an Aprilia RS125SP, quick as sh*t and would beat all other 125's I came across
View attachment 17499 My Lotus Elan S4, sold for £950, it was a 21st birthday present to myself (not saying what year )
Nope as my car history has been crap. first car, 1.6 no turbo oil burning escort so not a great start My brother in the other hand scrapped a Rs2000 which has the X pack. think he regrets that a bit. Well i keep reminding him of it
She was a beauty with 19000 miles and completely original all bar the ACS strut brace with 1 previous owner a German F1 racing driver. Purchased for 15K sold for 25K now values are around 35K. love the m3 matt. my brother had a mk2 cortina savage in the early 90.s and he sold it for £500 to a mate. wonder what it could be worth now. this year is 20 years of the audi rs and all the reviews rate the rs4 b7 (mine) as audi,s sweet spot that nothing from audi since has quite matched so hopefully it could earn me some money 1 day lol. as for bikes have had 7 2/350lc,s (last one 2 years ago). various x7,s and rd air cooleds. if i still had them all now i could be mortgage free!! live and learn!
All my previous cars have been crap tbh. Vauxhall Chevette, Volvo 340, Volvo 360, a couple of Fiat Puntos and an Alfa 146 amongst others. I do wish I'd hung on to my original Apple Mac Classic (B&W). That will fetch good money one day...
