on bikes alone in the last 7 yrs.

    1 x zx10r--6k (still got it)
    1 x 05 zx10r track bike 4.5k got 4 k back
    1x 07 BSB spec blade 8k got 7.5k back
    1x 09 s/stock blade 7.5k got 6.5k back
    1x 94 FZR 4/6 1.3k still got it
    1x 2013 BMW s1000rr 12k still got it

so best part of 40k,although i got back 18k back so approx 22k just on bikes.

i wouldn't want to even start to think how much i've spent on spares/repairs/upgrades/servicing etc but it's going to be around 100k i reckon (vans, trailers inc.) approx 15k a yr.....still at least it gets me out the house :)

You get there one day YT, I did after many years, I saw trackdays go from turning up on your bike, just as everyone else did, then riding it home and onto work still on shot tyres until you could afford some more, we even did this on foreign tracks, before most peeps knew they were open, to trailering a race bike, to a van and 2 bikes etc. In the end, it just felt the fun factor had diminished and the costs rose dramatically with the serious side that came in. Every friggin trackday ended up looking more like a BSB paddock, and the level of knobs turning up increased dramatically, then the whinging started about riding styles and what you could and could not do, fairing bashing become frowned upon so to speak.
Although its still there, a lot of the carefree camaraderie disappeared. just woke up one day and said game over, sold the lot and just kept a road bike.
Tortured myself for about 2 seasons, then it was out of my system, do I miss it? Like fook I do sometimes, but I had a good run and a lot of laughs, lot of crashes, but life moves on, and I would not go back now, as I would probably kill myself due to the stupid competitive instinct my mind has, but the bodies not as young and repairable, and you don't roll as well as you did in your teens or 20s.
The strange thing is I do not know where the 10s of thousands of pounds that I spent on my addiction now go.....one of lifes great mysteries.

I spent next to chuff-all last year. Spent 100-odd quid getting the wheels powder-coated and replacing the bearings. Got the bike serviced and had my seized engine mounting bolt replaced and got new crash bungs while I was on.

    Bought JKaye's unwanted Beriks.

Including fuel, tax, tools, insurance, training and a track school day, about £1,000. Most of the bits I bought were 2nd hand so saved about the same again.

    ooohhh this is gona hurt.

    Cars
Last year bought Audi A5 convertible £27k lost £9k in 8 months (not practical)
chopped in for an X5 £29k lost £10k in 7 months (this was costing between £800 - £1200 per month to run)
Just bought a new Passat £25k (see how long this lasts)

Bikes in the last 18 months (daren't go back any further)
    BMW s1000rr £10.5k (sold for £8k)
Race exhaust x2 £1.2k (dropped it at Melbourne loop)
Race fairing, paint, R&G goodies etc £1500 ish

    CBR400rr £3k
    RVF400rr £3.5k
New Ninja 250r for the missus £4k
New Triumph street triple £6k (chopped in for £4k with 3500 miles on clock)
Aprilia V4r Tuono £8.6k (chopped in for £7k after only doing 400 miles and spending over £1k on zorst etc)
    Pit bikes x2 (1200)
Blade Anniversary £8k (Zorst, ASV's, Bazzaz TC, R&G goodies, Race fairing approx £2.2k for now)

Now only have the Blade, Gixxer track bike and 2 Pit bikes. Sold everything else

Moved house had to find £35k deposit
    Got married £?????
Bought caravan £15k (sold for £11.5 after three months)
just spent £15k on the new house having a new man cave and driveway
Oh yes and bought a Power parachute for £6k that I haven't even flown yet after dislocating my shoulder fecking up a wheelie on the triple (luckily I was on my own)

Spends take me over £116,000
returns from sales Just over £40,000
leaving me £76k to the bad. That is being conservative as it doesn't include track bike and track days or insurance and running costs on anything as well as my other hobbies.

Its ok though as I don't smoke or drink;) It also helps that I am late 40's and all my kids have now flow the nest.

This all has happened in the last 12-18 months. I have had a good time but my head is spinning and my bank is sqweeking.

The moral of this story is. Meet and marry the right woman first time and not have to sell your business and house to get rid of the wrong one.

Do I regret any of it? NO. Would I do it all again? YES

I'm now married to the woman of my dreams who loves bike and even more so speed and wheelies. She goes with me everywhere and never gives me grief about spending money especially on bikes.

I live for today as we never know where we will be tomorrow. Your a long time dead and you can't take it with you so follow your dreams peeps.

Well, spent a depressing small amount of time/money on the bike last year due to faffing about with my career and other annoying "life things" getting in the way... so I would estimate my spend at:

    - insurance, £180
    - tax, £78
    - MOT, £36
    - fuel, £200
    - couple of cans of chain lube, £12

Total spend for the ENTIRE 12 months of 2013......... approx £500...... this is sad, very very sad!

Worse for me last year with 2 expensive hobbies. Clayshooting used to cost me £6-£8k a year.Don't get me wrong it paid dividends with my shooting ability and was enjoyable.Last march I beat the world champion George Digweed, sent him home with no winnings:D I achieved my goal to be as good as any shooter.
Last year I was alternating my time on the bike, shooting and keeping the family happy with outings etc.Difficult when you have some very good mates.Probably more than £10k this year on both hobbies.
The bike has had some money thrown at it so I'm concentrating on my riding ability this year,Brands Hatch will be regularly attended in order to make me a better rider.

This year I want to move house again so money will not be splashed out as much on shooting.

not at all,tbh i spend all my time at work or in the garage/at the track,i'm lucky my missus likes the whole t/day thing and bikes so she doesn't mind.last yr (2012) i did 15 t/days upto july and then got a bit pissed off doing wet t/days all the time so just played a bit more golf for the rest of the yr apart from my end of yr Euro trip.

i still love it,and still get a buzz and butterflies before i go out on track, not sure what else i'd do tbh as i enjoy the time in the garage with the bikes just as much as riding them.

Congrats on the winnings mate, big respect. That is one of my hobbies too. Only started this year but boy can you throw some cash as well as lead. Especially as the wife does it as well.

keep saying every year i'll dip my toe in,but the problem i have is a work weekends and is quite tricky to get them off, then b/hol weekends are impossible for me to take off as it's my busiest time.

saying that,i'll have my ACU again this yr so might pop along to oulton to give jason a run for his money ;)
