Now I'm not saying I'm a tight ar$e, I don't mind spending money where it's needed and the blade always needs it :D

However, I never, apart from really really freezing nights and I'm going in the shower, put my heating on, the average winter temperature in my house is around 10C.
I'm a firm believer in putting on extra layers before putting on the heating, so my gas/electric spend is usually about £30 a month.

    Until last week that is...

I put my usual £20 electric on the meter....6 days later..beep beep click goes the meter..it's gone ;(

"hmm" thinks I, "that's odd" ... but there was a few loads of washing through the tumble drier so maybe not odd.

So I put the £5 emergency credit on the meter till I go to the shop

Less than 24hrs later...beep beep click that's gone too :(
So I asked my daughter if she's done a load of washing/drying whilst I was at work...."nope" say's she

Then she said "What about the heater in your bike shed ?"
"No" said I "it's on frost setting and it's nowhere near cold enough for it to come on"

So off to the shop I go and put another £15 on the meter....checked it this morning £5 left !!!!:mad::mad:

And the little red light flashing away like a disco light....something is using a load of current....

I know that there is nothing on in the house so the only place it can be is the bike shed, so I switch off the power, check the meter...
and the light is now back to it's very slow flash every 30 seconds or so.

So I restore power to the shed, grab the keys and go down and open up.....

There are parrots calling, tropical birds flying and lizards scampering about in the mini caribbean heatwave in this chilly north east gardens shed.
It must have been 30-35C in there as it's well insulated too, so the outside wall was stone cold which is why, at first I dismissed the shed heater as the culprit.

The heater was on the frost setting, but I must have clouted the thermostat housing when putting the bikes away and twisted it so it was permanently on full blast and it's a 5kw oil filled radiator, hence the oven like temps....

So whilst I sat in an igloo the bikes have been sat with a towel around them in their sauna....but at least there's no chance of damp

    I won't tell the daughter :p

    Hahaha!! You plank :D

I must admit I'm a firm believer in putting some bloody clothes on and accepting that it's winter but 10°c???!!! Even I keep mine at a steady 18°c.

    You tight-arsed sod :D

It's a healthy temperature LOL....and my dog's find it's just right for them too :)

Although I think the gas board are probably wondering why I don't use any more gas in the winter than the summer :D

If their noses are cold and wet it's probably because they've got hypothermia, not because they're healthy :D
