Dear members, we would like to get your feedback on how the (Bikes for sale and Parts, Accessories & Clothing) are dealt with when it comes to selling items.

We have a 20 post limit to try and kerb people joining and posting stuff they have for sale but never coming back or supporting the forum for everyone.

The only down side is that you may miss some items you wish to but. But there will always be eBay and such like to buy these items if they are not available on this forum.

The upside is that existing/active members can sell anything FREE on the forum and benefit from being a member. And we do not want become spammed with loads of free adds with members who never contribute to the forum.

Please post your views and comments on this. We all want to ensure you have a say in the way the forum is run. As without you the forum would not be here.

2 hours and no a reply.

No one worried if we get spammed by sellers who don't contribute

or would rather have this and get what you want?.

Personally i agree with a contribution / post limit for people to be able to sell their items, it's very easy to purchase from a complete stranger on ebay as when paying via paypal your pretty much covered for any underhand sellers or items not quite as described.

However it's a complete risk or purchase of faith in my opinion gifting a paypal payment or a direct payment into a strangers bank account who have just landed on this site trying to off load their spare parts or other items, yes i appreciate there will be some honest people among those trying this and some possibly don't want to join a community or contribute because they no longer have a blade (hence that's why their selling the parts) but for me it's still a big risk to take.

Also just as a suggestion, if your not a registered member you are still able to read every post/thread on this forum giving less of a reason for those guests to become a registered member and contribute.

Maybe you could limit what none members can see by allowing them to only view the new members thread, so they can see what a friendly bunch of people we are on this forum encouraging them to register to gain access to the vast knowledge this forum has to offer ?

I'm more than happy with this and would even suggest a 50 post limit like our American cousins! As could be all to easy to just post 20 you tube clips then sell something.

Is this a gentleman's agreement or something programmable that is going to be put in place?

We have had 5 in the past 4 days popping on posting then leaving. or just joining selling and adding uo posts by replying on the for sale section. We try and remove these items as they brake the rules we have set in place.

I just wanted to get some feedback from others they wish this to be the case.

The suggestion of a 50 post limit I like but in the end it's not up to me. As is the now allowing non members not to see these section. i think that may stop some of the view, join and put up for sale items others just can't be arsed t sell on ebay or just want to use this forum to it's own means and not help out the forum

Good bit of policing Remal and as previously discussed let newbies earn the right to post things for sale.

    My View.

Everything we have is open for the public to view.
As long as the google spiders are allowed to crawl through these pages, it always will be.
Fact. We do need advertising, and that's why it has to be kept clean and suitable for family viewing, it's this that funds the forum security and the upgrades and the continued support to keep this forum running, we are near the top of the trends because of this.
And because of our popularity the forum is in the first page, we will always get the opportunist who comes amongst our midst ready to exploit it and it's members

I like the feed back guys, real good to read.

The last thing we want is to be branded a "clicky forum" but I guess we are that already by being bike specific .
As Matt suggests, we do have at least 1-2 people a week who join, just to sell their bike or bits.
Thats not taking into account the Internet spammers out there.
We asked this question, well because the forum is for me about its members, we felt it should be a privalige not a right of passage to be able to advertise within these walls.

IMO respect is earned, and we do have a lot of that here. The 20 post minimum process is more a test of faith if you wish, we get to know each other, ride outs socials and even just through a PC for some, but we build a picture, and that helps build a picture of what and who we can trust.
Opportunists hit it once, with the hope of getting a positive hit?
Although the forum accepts no responsibility for any miss givings with transactions between members, we would hate one of our own to get their arse spanked and the word of getting stung be related to this forum.
The forum is still relatively young and with the core we have it will continue to grow.
I have ideas to put forward, and I like others would recomend any suggestions to be put forward.
It has to be understood, we are at the blunt end of the stick, and can only convey your opinions and help to promote them to the powers above.
As I have always maintained, the forum is and will be only as strong as its members, and so far, We are rock solid.

Crack on guys & Girls, your doing a grand job.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it to be honest, Matt. I wouldn't buy anything from anyone on here unless they had a canny few posts under their belt anyway and the ones who join up simply to shift their stuff are pretty easy to spot.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but you do get occasionally stuff sold at a good prices to newbies with next to zero posts. I understand that the seller has the right to sell to whoever but maybe during the first day of selling items are reserved to members with a certain number of posts? Just throwing the idea out there:)
